When we decided to come to the Maldives it was for the surf — a place we’ve been dreaming about for a long time. Our next stop though wasn’t a surf break or a resort… but an island with an abandoned luxury resort, slowly being reclaimed by nature. From there, we explored above and below the water, sailed on past seaplanes landing in crystal-clear lagoons, and eventually found our first waves in the Maldives — something we’d heard so much about and were incredibly excited to experience. What followed was a mix of sketchy moments in the surf, a building storm, and finally months-worth of wind lining up perfectly for kite surfing and wing foiling.
