Journey Soon Adventure Chaos Ep236

908 Views· 11/10/26

We’ve been planning for quite some time and now it seems it’ll be just a couple of weeks before beginning our journey from Georgia to Texas. It’ll be quite the adventure, and it brings about mixed emotions of excitement and concern. You never know what will happen when you are out in the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf. Still preparing for the move, Steve installed the Garmin GC100 camera in the engine room. It used to sit on the bow and now will allow us to check on the engine and other equipment while underway from the cockpit. It is always a good idea to have extra fuel on hand. We have purchased four new five-gallon jerry cans for that purpose. With the existing one that will give us about 25 gallons of extra fuel. The Midwest cans seem to last the longest and they have an extra handle making it easier to pour fuel into the tank. Boats can get so dirty after only a week or so and Isabella is no exception. Using our new gizmo, a foam gun for the hose, we give her deck a good cleaning. It makes it easier to have soap dispensed automatically through the hose without having to deal with a separate bottle of soap. Thank you to all our subscribers and viewers, y’all truly keep us going. Your comments and support make us smile. We live aboard S/V Isabella, a Super Mikado 56 built in France by C.N.S.O. (Constructions Nautiques du Sud-Ouest). Isabella is a 1990/2010 sailing ketch with four private cabins, an engine room, a salon, a galley, and three heads with two separate shower stalls. Her fiberglass hull is designed for bluewater cruising, with an excellent capsize ratio of 1.68 and a very good comfort ratio of 42.19. She is equipped with Garmin and Raymarine electronics and hydraulic steering. Isabella was designed by naval architect Michel Bigoin, who also designed Phocea. Built in 1976, the 246-foot, four-masted steel schooner was considered the world’s largest private sailing yacht until 2004.
