It began with a Micronesian elder who was prepared to show the technique to their Hawaiian cousins on Hokulea who then shared it with a Kiwi and two Mongolians in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean (in Episodes 4 and 5) who then took it to the Caribbean and showed it to a group of Grenadans.
