This day started for me at 3am! Such are how the difficult days of the sailing life go. But making the most of it, I got up and got exploring! There was soo much to see and soo much to do. From running on the beach chasing the sunrise. To exploring the massive ruins of an abandoned hotel. To then spearfishing with loads of sharks! This day, was full on! . . We have sailed into our eighth country, Portugal, on our journey from Sweden to the Mediterranean!🇵🇹 This video begins in the beautiful city of Porto, where we finally experience the sunny early spring days we’ve been longing for after our first month of storms and rain. We explore Porto’s charming streets, taste traditional Portuguese food and drinks, and soak up the atmosphere of one of Europe’s most beautiful coastal cities.☀️ Back on the boat, we install our new cockpit enclosure from Kapell & Annat and enjoy it for the very first time this season, a true game changer for liveaboard sailing life. We’re also deep in preparations for the long sailing season ahead as we continue south toward the Mediterranean.⛵️ We then set off on our longest passage at sea so far, just the three of us, heading toward Nazaré, 100 nautical miles down the Atlantic coast of Portugal. As we sail, we hope to avoid orcas, fishing nets, and heavy Atlantic swell. The wind is light, and although we enjoy a calm wing-on-wing sail, the passage takes longer than expected. We arrive early the following morning. We started the journey in our unique 33 foot sailboat from 1980, which we sold in Kiel, and luckily one week after we bought a new boat, a Bavaria 37, from 2000 more suited for our adventures ahead. 🔔 If you love real-life sailing stories and adventures where we learn as we go, don’t forget to subscribe and join us on the journey! 🎬 Check out all our videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLW5XfQ-xoWegVqr10z1ukHYnIOlh3kQfc 📱 Follow us on Instagram for more updates: https://www.instagram.com/sailanddoxie/ #sailing #sailinglife #boatlife #liveaboard #couple #adventure #dog
This is a value packed cruiser in an easy to handle size! This 24’ Cruiser punches above its weight and brings all the features that much bigger boats do in a comparatively easy to handle package! Powered by a well maintained, super low hours (216 hours) Mercruiser 350 MPI Horizon engine that is closed cooled and features a Bravo 3 stern drive. There’s a nice size V berth and aft berth below deck, as well as a fully equipped galley with stove, sink, fridge and microwave. In the cockpit, space is used really well and the upholstery is all in excellent shape as well as the full bimini top and full camper canvas enclosure. The snap out carpets are in great shape, too! There’s a GPS and smart craft gauge setup at the helm. Trailer is in great shape and has electric brakes. Summerized and ready to go! Drop by @shuswapmarina today to check it out! #nudibranch #gymnodoris #huahine #frenchpolynesia For a nudibranch lover, finding these beautiful dorids under our boat every day has been absolute heaven. I am in awe as their migration continues to unfold. On the second day, while hundreds of nudibranchs were still present, the ones on the move were significantly smaller. They also seemed more focused on mating and laying eggs than on traveling. By the third day, as I swam the shallow shelf, I found a ton of evidence that they had passed through. Literally every piece of seagrass, every twig, and even the sand was decorated with bright orange egg tinsel, waving in the current. It was like seeing the remnants of Halloween in a neighborhood the day after. I even found eggs attached to the decorative forest growing out of the top of a large snail shell deep into the shelf, a clear sign the nudibranchs had traveled toward the reef. Just like in the days before, lots of other creatures, were out and about and intermingling with the invertebrates. It made me wonder if they had always been there and I was only now seeing them because I was looking more intently. By the fourth day, the winds had picked up, and the number of nudibranchs flying through the water column increased. The egg strands were also threatening to fly off their hosts. Although hundreds of nudibranchs remained on the sandy shelf, many had buried themselves in the sand or taken shelter under something. The primary activities today were moving and mating, rather than laying eggs. Every day, the scene changes, and I am blown away by what I get to see and photograph. I know the days are numbered before they all disappear, but until then, I'll take advantage of being in the water as much as I can. NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? Our team spent the weekend being a hub linking various buildings for outside broadcast and receiving the video pictures from the motorbikes for the 2018 London Marathon. Our section was only a small part of the infrastructure used to get the pictures back .. there is a large team of engineers in lots of other places from on the ground to being up in the relay plane, however this was just a little of what goes on at the top of one of London's iconic buildings.
