Quando eu consegui sair da cabine que eu estava e vi o meu tripulante totalmente desesperado, fiquei extremamente nervoso e dei um enorme gargalhada. Passamos quase um minuto rindo e depois, saímos para resolver o problema. Foi aí que eu aprendi o que costumo chamar de “liturgia no cargo de liderança”. Then just a day's weather window - light winds, but enough to sail and sometimes Rutland Water does its own 'weather' thing and comes up with a surprise. We started with very light winds, but launched anyway and there was enough wind to sail. We sailed out passed Normanton Church and over to Whitwell Creek before tacking and heading up towards the dam A wind change and a pickup made for more interesting sailing. We head on a broad reach towards Hambleton Peninsula and then saw the cruiser fleet sailing well in the distance - down the southern leg of Rutland Water. Another wind change and we were tacking towards the end of the leg, at times sailing close to the cruisers and at one stage passing through comfortably. The wind changed again and we tacked back towards Rutland Sailing Club and the pontoons enjoying the sailing. In the distance we saw 30+ Waszp foiling out towards the 'Pond' for their race - taking advantage of the improved wind. BTW I did get my hands on the helm a few times too. Mike took us back and did a perfect landing at the pontoons. Boat recovered and back on her trailer in the boat park - ready for next time - soon we hope.

A Semana Internacional de Vela de Ilhabela adota desde 2016 medidas para conter a poluição dos oceanos, uma bandeira que os principais eventos do mundo da modalidade utilizam. Comandado por Julio Cardoso, o departamento de meio ambiente do Yacht Club de Ilhabela (YCI) busca o impacto praticamente zero em suas ações, não utilizando mais canudos de plástico e produtos descartáveis, como os copos em suas dependências. As provas também ocorrem durante o processo migratório das baleias jubartes passando pelo litoral norte rumo à Abrolhos (BA). A competição de vela mais importante da América do Sul reúne mais de mil competidores todos os anos e desde o início do processo de inscrição até o fim das regatas, os velejadores são orientados a preservar o meio ambiente. A vela também contribui para a limpeza dos oceanos por não usar combustível em suas provas. Em 2021, os organizadores prometem endurecer ainda mais as ações de preservação ambiental, principalmente com a chegada do coronavírus. Todos os descartes de materiais, como máscaras e luvas, serão feitos em locais apropriados.
