Watch the highlights from the first race day of the 2023 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 European Championships in Vilamoura. We started with sunny skies and very light wind, with an average of 6 knots, which increased as the day progressed. The wait for wind was longer than expected and sailing did not begin until later in the day. In the 49erFX two races were completed today. In the top position with two points is the Italian team formed by Jana Germani and Giorgia Bertuzzi. In second place is the Danish team with Josephine Nojgaard and Esther Bojsen-Moller with 6 points. In tie with the second team are the French formed by Sarah Steyaert and Charline Picon with 6 points. In the Nacra class only one race was completed. In the top place is the British team formed by John Gimson and Anna Burnet. In second place is the Italian team formed by Gianluigi Ugolini and Maria Giubilei and in third place is the Australian team formed by Ruben and Rita Booth. In the 49er class the wind died down towards the late afternoon and only one race was completed. In first place in fleet 1 is the Spanish team formed by Martin and Jaime Wizner. In first place in fleet 2 is the New Zealand team formed by Isaac McHardie and William McKenzie. In fleet 3 the Swiss team formed by Sebastien Schneiter and Arno de Planta are first. It is still very early in the championship and many races and challenges still lie ahead however, the excitement is set for a thrilling and adrenaline filled week.

This is my almost 11yr old Kossel, originally created as a „Rostock“ with woodwn base and top plates and steel rods. A lot changed ober the years until now as you might see… Kossel running with a SKR 1.4 board and a RPi 3. No special settings or configuration was done printing this part in PETG. This results in this print being far away from perfect… but for the first print, I think it‘s not too bad

Light wind made the final day more of a mental and emotional test than a physical one, but in the end there was no doubt that Corinthian Yacht Club was the best team on the water. The Marblehead-based club is the first to win the Resolute Cup twice and is already planning its bid for the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup next September. Rounding out the top six were New York Yacht Club - Main Page in second, Mystic River Mudhead Sailing Association in third, Eastern Yacht Club in fourth, Bayview Yacht Club in fifth and Chicago Yacht Club - Waterfront in sixth.

It is that time of the year again, the Annapolis Fall Sailboat Show is back in town. This is the sailing event of the year on the east coast. As always, Toni and I cleared our schedule months in advance so we can attend the show. We viewed boats of interest, took advantage of boatshow deals, participated in the comradery of fellow sailors, and of course, attended the parties. This year we toured the Corsair 880 trimaran and the brand new Dragonfly 36 trimaran. We had a list of items that we still needed for “Moments in Time” and had previously researched bottom line prices.
