Doch bisher existierten zwei Systeme auf dem Markt nebeneinander, die Lagoon beide als nicht zufriedenstellend empfunden hat: Ein Mastsystem erhöht das Gewicht in der Höhe und verhindert die Verwendung konventioneller horizontaler Segellatten, während ein Standard-Baumrollsystem eine in ein Gehäuse eingebaute Wickelwelle verwendet – was es letztendlich sehr schwer und sogar gefährlich bei einer unvorhergesehenen Halse macht, und die Crew kann nicht sehen, was während des Hissens und Absenkens passiert. Der Lagoon Furling Boom, der als Option für die Lagoon 46 und 51 konzipiert wurde, bevorzugt den Baum anstelle des Mastes zum Aufrollen und verzichtet auf ein spezielles Gehäuse. Das Segel bleibt daher sichtbar, wie die guten alten Rollbäume der 1960er Jahre... nur dass das System mit einer am Mast befestigten Struktur weiterentwickelt wurde, die einen konstanten Radius bietet. Ziel ist es, die Last der Segellatten auf das Vorliek zu verteilen und dadurch die Lebensdauer des Großsegels deutlich zu erhöhen. Der Lagoon Furling Boom wird durch einen Toppnantstopper waagerecht gehalten und verfügt über eine horizontale Zuführungseinstellung (Vorliek-Voreinführung), die einen günstigeren Anstellwinkel am Vorliek gewährleistet. ► This 40th edition of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers brought the 32 multihulls we saw in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, safely to port after a beautiful 2,700-mile transatlantic crossing. We rejoin our fleet in Saint Lucia. ► To begin with, a presentation of the setting is in order! We are here in Saint Lucia, a small island in the Lesser Antilles, located between Martinique to the north and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the south. Saint Lucia, in addition to having been a former French colony, then British, and finally an independent country since 1979, is the only state in the world to bear a woman’s name. This island, with its rugged terrain, covers an area of 620 km² and has a population of nearly 200,000 inhabitants. ► Exposed to the easterly trade winds, it is on the west coast that the best sheltered anchorages are found. Among them, one of the finest is undoubtedly Rodney Bay, at the very north of the island. This vast anchorage is further complemented by a lagoon, a true hurricane hole. It is here that a lively 253-berth marina and very comprehensive technical facilities have been established. The 2015 Legend is built tough and light with a progressive weight panel layout incorporating our new light weight metallic scrim laminate used in combination with our gradient X-ply and heavy duty 5 mil x-ply for the optimum combination of durability and light weight. The addition of the metallic scrim laminate in the mid-upper sail body also improves sail twist flex response and gives a more responsive feel.
