I know that how the thru-hulls look in the last clip above ground is very concerning. I received some further guidance and had mis-communicated the intended mounting situation to the person who was giving me help. After the last clip outside the boat looking at the thruhulls, I removed a lot of the excess 5200 and faired over it with structural fairing compound while the 5200 was still wet. Remembering how it was to sail before worrying about CV19, we could go everywhere. Sailing in fine weather and excellent conditions, enjoying the Caribbean sea. We could go anywhere. This was a perfect sailing trip. Somedays you have it all. Two weeks later in Bonaire we were locked down because of the corona virus. A couple of weeks later the Panama canal closed and conditionally reopened two months thereafter. We decided it was the ending of our plans in 2020. Doomed to beautiful Bonaire and decided to wait out hurricane season here to see how the world looks like at the end of 2020. New plans have to be made.....

This week I take apart the sailboat refrigeration systems on Samantas. The systems in the 1970s were charged with R12 refrigerant although extremely effective for sailboat refrigeration, R12 is much more damaging to the environment should systems leak Freon into the atmosphere. Modern systems on a sailboat use 134a. It is possible to change from R12 refrigeration to 134a but the oil in the compressor systems will need to be changed as well. Sailboat refrigeration systems are interesting in that often times the refrigeration sled is a separate from the fridge, in Samantas its mounted under the cockpit and plumbed into the top loading refrigeration box in the galley. After a total of 35 races, the Regattaclub Oberhofen won with a hitchcock-final against Yacht Club Arbon - both teams had the same amount of points. On the 3rd place got Zürcher Segel Club. Many new friendships, many new impressions, a lot of learnings, fair sailing, passion and cooperation. A great women event got to an end. See you next year in Biel-Bienne.

Julie, a CSSC taster guest, joined five members for a sail on our keelboats - two Squibs and a Soling. Having been greeted and briefed and issued with a buoyancy aid, it was down to the pontoon to meet RCSSC members. In the morning she sailed with Dave Grundy on a Squib in a moderate breeze, cloudy but dry conditions. She was soon setting the jib, pulling on jib sheets and finding the wind. Time to go on the helm Julie and she managed just fine, pleasantly surprised how manoeuvrable the Squib is and, with a good breeze, how Satyr quick picked up speed. A short lunch break and all change, joining John and Eric on Soling: Time Flies. The wind picked up at time and she was motoring along. Meanwhile Pete was with Dave on Squib: Satyr and Tony and Christine were enjoying their sail on Squib: Lift Off. This short video, pardon the pun, give you a taster of Julie's 'taster sail'. Welcome Aboard Julie - you did your self proud. Smiles all round at the end of the day and of course, we met up on the veranda to view the lake and reflect on a perfect days sailing.

Пришли в бухту к обеду, бросили якорь, искупались и позже встали на стоянку у причала в марине... Oбедали на катамаране, купались на пляже и ужинали в местной таверне заказав 2, 5 кг баранины на 10 человек.... На ночевку остались в бухте.... We left Chora (Naxos capital) in the morning and headed south, sailing to Kalantos harbour. On a way there we did few stops for a swimming sessions. Having reached Kalantos harbour at lunch time, we dropped the anchor at a harbour and had a swim again. An hour later after arrival we moved to a local marina and had lunch. Some time during a day we enjoyed sun bathing at a local beach and we dined at a local taverna on top of the hill. An old and rusty metal boat from Ukraine is docked at the pier- that was very interesting thing to see.
