After a traffic jam in Washington DC, it was smooth sailing through New York City and on to Massachusetts. In Massachusetts it was snowing and even some fog. You get to see how the long lines can be at some fuel island.

Join the Barbados 50 yachts who took part in the Cape Verde mini-cruise. After sailing from Fogo (55nm), the fleet (now one group) arrives in another Tarafal, this time on Santiago. This was was the 11th port visited by the fleet. Take a bus tour around the island with Pedro (mobile 921 73 55) who speaks English and is reliable. We did cover too much on this day tour so I recommend visiting the island in 2 parts on different days. A special thanks to Lutz Meyer-Sheel, marina owner for this mini-cruise planning and support. These 8 wreck dives are easy to do with local dive operators or with your own boat . These wrecks were alas stripped of most of their contents by salvage operators right after WWII or by local divers. Colorfull soft corals are not abundant like in Truk lagoon but they still make interesting dives with lots of sealife. Explore briefly with us the Olympia Maru, the Okikawa aru, the Ekkai Maru, the Akitsushima Maru, the Irako Maru, the Kogyo Maru, the Nansin Maru and the Kyokuzan Maru located on the North side of Busuanga Island. In this video, we take a 17 day trip checking out as many waterfalls, while on our way back home to Colorado to work, and save as much money as possible during the hurricane season. We checked out as many national forests as possible trying to find a new camping spot each evening. It was such an amazing trip. Besides the both of us catching Giardia by the time we got back to CO from the water of one of these places.

Nice weather for a test run after engine inspection with my Danish friend Ole on his Dufour 445. Taking some drone shots turned ou to be a bad idea, because the drone didn't want to land on the boat again. And, of course, I forgot how to switch off the senors….

We visit friends in Antibes and visit Nice then leave and drive to Puy de Dome to climb the volcano and walk in the snow. We then drive to Paris and Dunkirk before crossing into Belgium and staying in Ghent and Bruges. We are a family of six who are taking some time out of normal life to travel. We’ve pulled the kids from school and are home schooling while on the road and the water. We spend time aboard our 34ft sailing boat in NZ and have bought a motorhome in Europe so as to tour the other side of the world. We’re keeping our memories on video here and the kids write narration and play guitars so we have music to use in the videos.

This week we depart from the typical and show how to we are testing out some selective pruning. Basically that means picking specific branches and areas of a plant you want to prune to spur growth in certain directions. As always, I have heard of this concept so wanted to test it. This footage is over a 4-6 week period to show the results of each selective pruning approach and cut on 3 different species of shrubs that we have. We found that the approach works on any of them. Some species grow faster but all in all the process was solid and will be continued as our method to shape and manage our shrubs and large potted plants.
