Malgré sa fréquentation en demi-teinte pour cette première, cet événement a permis de mesurer le potentiel que peut offrir un salon spécialisé en Catalogne. Les multicoques ont en effet le vent en poupe et l’Espagne ne déroge pas à la règle : son littoral et les îles Baléares toutes proches sont un classique de la navigation méditerranéenne pour les plaisanciers sur deux ou trois coques. De l’America’s Cup aux salons de Palma, Valence et Barcelone, le nautisme espagnol occupe toujours plus de place en Europe. C’est pourquoi Andrés Oliva et Valentina Libri, acteurs influents du secteur, ont décidé de mettre sur pied Multihull Fest, premier salon dédié aux multicoques. Port Ginesta a été retenu car cette marina jouit d’un emplacement de choix à quelques kilomètres au sud-ouest de Barcelone et fait partie d’un groupe de ports catalans multihull friendly réservant un nombre de place conséquent aux multicoques de passage. Built in France in early 2020, 'Korora Bay' is an immaculately presented and well-specified Dufour 530 berthed in Sydney and for sale with YOTI. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/dufour-530-korora-bay Purchased new by a very experienced Sydney-based family, this Dufour 530 was ordered for the family to complete their Bluewater cruising program starting in Sydney. But with the onset of the pandemic, their plans changed, and Korora Bay then became a very well-specified coastal cruiser. Ordered as the very practical three-cabin version with her trademark Dufour lateral galley arrangement, her interior is light and bright and enormous. Her three cabins are serviced by their own en-suite, and her huge dining table lowers on an electric pedestal to form a large daybed. Her rig plan was designed for easy, fast sailing. The four Double Hander teams on this morning’s CYCA panel were given a rigorous test of their boat skills at the Race Village afterwards. The challenge was for one team member from each boat to put on their wet weather gear while holding a cup of coffee in one hand (water, for safety purposes in this instance!), run ‘down below’ to wake up their ‘sleeping’ partner who had to run up ‘on deck’ and pack a spinnaker. The father and son team of Martin and John Cross (‘Transcendence Rudy Project’) were convincing winners on Line Honours, with mother and daughter team Annette Hesselmans and Sophie Snijder (Fika) running second. The CYCA is still working out the Handicap Winner, based on a complex rule relating to spinnaker size and age!
