All was needed is move in and give her more Love to keep her going! We came down in January and ended up sitting 4 months in #Quarantine in Spain. We could not leave the vessel only to the store. Those 4 months We could not take her out for a sail or get work done. She hold out through the harsh Winter Storms. In this episode Eddie, Connie, swab, and swabella from sv Jean Grey join as crew. We cancel our first attempt to depart due to fog and get off to a little bit of a late start. After topping off at the fuel dock, we motor to Avalon. We spotted 2 whales (species yet to be identified) and had a smooth pickup at the mooring just after sunset. We leave our anchorage and set sail for the most beautiful desert oasis. When we arrive we take Lenny for a walk along the beach and watch the most incredible sunset. In the morning we set start our 40 mile sail to a marina we thought we had booked... someone navigated wrong... and Bayly ends up radioing the wrong marina for an hour in their port only to realize we aren't in the right place and need to head out in the dark our actual port.

We had a spreader boot come down the stay so now we need to go up the mast to replace the spreader boot. Problem is I am terrified of heights and our winch on mast will not allow me to pull him up the mast. So we get climbing gear and he climbs his way up the mast to replace the boot. This is not without difficulty as neither of us has done this. Plus we are tied up in a marina in a no wake zone on the inlet that boats are not obeying. Several times the boat is rocked hard. This episode we visited the world famous Whitehaven beach, this is one to add on the bucket list. This place is absolutely stunning! With beautiful walking trails and crystal clear waters, you could spend a few days just soaking up the sun and views. We return back Airley Beach and enjoy some much needed retail therapy - yes I am a princess 😂 Catching up with boat jobs, we had the help from Des, the legend! We legit saved ourselves thousands of dollars, with the help of Des and a foreign language, YouTube tutorial on how to do the repair. Then we encountered a rat on board, not sure how this fury little bugger got on board. But we were very happy that Josh caught him. The Port of Airley Marina, in my opinion is one of the best marinas we have visited. With the convenience of Woolworths a short walk away and liquor store. Plus many nearby restaurants, a huge kids park and a 10 minute walk to the lagoon to cool down. It was on the pricy side, at $150 per night. As I was searching for an elusive cuttlefish, I couldn’t help but notice the abundance of striped catfish feeding in the sandy bottom. Schools of these guys were everywhere, in dense groups leapfrogging one another to get to the fresh ungrazed sand in front of the heard. Wherever I found the catfish, I also found razorfish hovering above the school as the disturbed substrate released not only large amounts of bubbles but also food particles that the razorfish seemed to love, but were not able to access without the catfish's assistance. Occasionally, the grazing school would come into the ‘gardens’ of the white damsel fish who are very protective of their carefully cultivated algae patches, and were not afraid to challenge any intruder with maximum force, including me!

On our journey back south, we finally made it out to Lady Musgrave Island after trying a few times along our journey but never finding the right weather window. This time the forecast looked perfect, so we joined about 20 other boats heading into the lagoon, where the water is turquoise, crystal clear, and full of turtles. Despite all the chatter about how tricky the entrance can be, we found it one of the easiest reef entries we’ve done – short, clear, well-marked, and with plenty of moorings. It’s an amazing spot if you get the chance to come out. But then things got intense. Late at night we answered a VHF call for a welfare check on another boat – in the dark, at low tide, inside the reef. And just when we thought we could relax, a storm rolled through with lightning and unexpected 39kn winds. Two boats dragged anchor and it turned into one anxious night for everyone inside the lagoon. Thankfully, everyone was safe, and we made a quick exit the next morning to the shelter of the Burnett River. Gosh, storm season at sea… not for the faint-hearted! Thanks for watching.
