About the Boat ''SY ROYAL ATENEA'' was built in Holland in 1973. Her original name was ''Antares''.She is a Jongert Trewes Design with 5mm Steel Hull and rigged as a Ketch with Aluminium Masts. Her LOA is 19.3m and she has a beam of 4.6m with a draft of 2.98m She weighs 33t and she can cruise at 7 kts with the engine and 8-10 kts on sail depending on the wind. She is fairly comfortable with 15 to 20 kts of wind. Freshwater capacity to last over 2 weeks and a fuel range of 13 days steaming. About the Boat ''SY Red Current'' is a Southerly 31 with the construction of GRP and rigged as a sloop with Aluminium Mast. Her LOA is 31 feet and she has a beam of 10 feet with a draft of 7 feet. She also has an electric swing keel which makes her draft very shallow and easy to enter in shallow water. In this episode, we leave Carteret and sail to Camaret sur Mer on the Atlantic coast. It is a long, slow voyage against the wind for two days and nights. To make life easier for the person off watch we make long tacks offshore so they can sleep. We get a wonderful surprise on the morning after the 2nd night. A visit from dolphins that were playing around the boat for a very long time. There also seemed to be some amorous activity going on. 😉. Leontien loves dolphins so much that there is an extended portion of the video dedicated to this interaction.
