We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! We test a new anchor, we have new sails and fly our new symmetrical spinnaker for the first time. We wanted to try the new anchored while anchored, so Pierre swaps anchors under water. We compare our old Mantus with a new Mantus anchor and conclude the older model with the roll bar is much better. We traded away our new anchor, preferring to keep our old one. These are our final days In Martinique as we prepare for crossing the Panama Canal to the Pacific side. About the anchor: We thought we needed a new anchor because the tip of our Mantus was a bit bent. We ordered a new Mantus and found it just did not work as well as the old one with the roll bar. About the spinnacker: We wanted a better downwind set up before heading into the Pacific. We show our method for taking down a spinnaker. Coral is having the time of her life jumping off the sailboat into the crystal-clear Caribbean waters, and we experience the vibrant atmosphere of Les Mardis de Grand Case with colorful costumes, music, dancing, and incredible local culture. Not everything goes according to plan though! What starts as a simple hiking adventure quickly turns into a disaster when we can't find the trail, get attacked by paper wasps, and end up dealing with a painfully swollen foot. Back aboard, we finally receive the long-awaited part for our watermaker. Will it finally solve our freshwater problems? We also tackle a massive provisioning run to stock up the boat before setting sail for one of the Caribbean's most unique islands: Saba. All Privilège Catamarans share this one feature - the center pod. This unique feature creates a place to position a forestay that's not only ideal for the integrity of the rig, but can also be used to install a storm jib. The center pod also provides an area to mount a twin anchor and windlass system with a deep anchor well. Da sind wir wieder! Die letzten zwei Wochen hatten wir Besuch von Andrés Bruder René. Und oh man was waren das für tolle und ereignisreiche Tage hier auf Martinique! Wir haben uns zusammen Fort-de-France, Saint Pierre und Saint Anne angesehen. Zu dritt auf unserer 10 Meter Carter war tatsächlich gar kein Problem. Im Gegenteil: wir hatten super viel Spaß zusammen und hatten auch ein paar tolle Abende mit unseren Freunden von der @Allonzee ! Wir haben immer noch keine Drohne, aber zum Glück Freunde, die uns immer mal wieder aufnehmen. Ach und dann ist da noch etwas tolles passiert...André hat mir im Botanischen Garten einen Antrag gemacht! Sein Bruder hat den Ring aus Deutschland mitgebracht. Ich habe nichts mitbekommen und war komplett überrascht, aber suuuuper glücklich! Unsere Instagram Follower haben das bereits mitbekommen und nach unseren Hochzeitsplänen gefragt. Well it was for us too, we travelled to England spent time with family and friends over Christmas got some little jobs done for the boat and some new bits to take back including a decent sander 😉 you'll see that in action next episode! Then sadly Nicky had an emergency hospital stay due to a deteriorating spinal and heart condition which needed stabilising, so after weeks of recovery and our vaccinations, which we needed for travel, we head back to the Med, to our beautiful little boat and get on with a few jobs so we can sail off in a couple of weeks, the hard work pays off as you'll see next episode! hope you enjoy the antics in the UK, road trip and sail back, remember to leave us a comment we love to chat with you guys.
