It comes with a caretaker house, although it is in need of “caretaking”. Use to be the USCG signaling station. It has a tram on the other side that you can use to haul stuff up from the harbor. Quite larger than the shanty drop off spots that we have seen so far on this trip. This must be where all of the local drop off spots bring their lobsters for their final journey to your dining table. It’s a hard business to be in. Your day starts between 4-5 am, no matter the weather. And there are so many pressures on the lobstermen. Tourism is conflicting - competing for good workers and implementing sound ordinances not to wake the tourists so early with loud boats. But don’t the tourists want to see and eat the Maine lobsters? Additionally, the high cost of gear, affordable coastal housing availability, and competitive pressures from overseas fishing mean less lobstermen every year. Nothing went to plan this week 3M 5200 screwed up our week We have a ton of things on order, and lots of big plans, but not a lot of time. We are starting to feel more at home, but we are still missing some key parts we need to fix the water but that will come soon we hope :-) If you are interested in buying our previous boat, Supernova, a beautiful fully kitted out Prout Quasar 50, please send us an email at: sailingsupernova@gmail.com Supernova has tons of upgrades. 4kw solar, 2600 AH of lifpo4 lithium batteries. Full electric galley, watermaker, 2 years new electronics including auto pilot, radar and 16 inch chartplotter. Custom dinghy lift where you can leave the engine on (comes with 10.5 rib with almost new 20hp motor), new mainsail and jib, 14 foot by 7 foot custom hard top, dive compressor, two electric toilets with 2x 100 litre blackwater tank, put in 3 new fridge/freezer units, new prop shafts, 8 new underwater lights. We took the bottom down to gel-coat and put 6 layers of barrier coat on before new bottom paint (that was 3 years ago) and we replaced every through hull. We installed two new prop shafts and aquadrives. It has 4 staterooms, one oversized queen bed, one queen bed and to double beds with 4 heads but we are using 2 heads as just storage. You can live remote on this boat for months and months without needing to resupply (3 fridge/freezers, crazy amount of solar and giant lithium batteries etc). It still needs some cosmetic work inside and a couple of things here and there, but could cross oceans right now as is. We love this boat but we are aware we aren't going to get back anywhere near the money we put into her. Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles Andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. This is part 6 of a step-by-step build of a B&B Yacht Designs Spindrift 10 nesting dinghy, following the guidance from the build instructions. This video focuses on installing the locker hatches, a unique way of attaching gunwale protectors as well as an ingenious approach to making the sections watertight! I purchased the pre-cut "kit" to save some time, but the same results can be accomplished by purchasing the build instructions and cutting your own marine-grade plywood. This video is for those who are looking to build their own dinghy, and who wish to learn more about the process.
