Here we take you along for the ride of our first ever overnight trip and anchorage. Often called a "shakedown cruise" its where you essentially figure out all the things you have forgotten, or that don't work, to prepare for longer trips - we did this on a smaller scale, bouncing around the Gulf Islands. I'm amazed how much faster Sappho is under power - we can motor places at twice the speed or more, that Ruckus did. This is also the first time in almost a year that Kailey and I have tried cruising and anchoring, now in a much larger boat, with an all chain rode and a manual windlass. Always something to learn out here!

With very little wind and a lot of sun, I donne the sun cream, put my new sunshade up and we motor off into the lake to see if we can find a breeze somewhere! We do and we have a very lazy Broad reach down the lake under Jib and Mizzen with the sunshade up. It works really well and seems to hold up when a small gust comes through. We aim for the Enchanted forest but make a detour to Pirates cove where we have lunch, play with a few things and then test the upgraded swim ladder with some success. I get the drone up while sailing for the first time which i'm pretty chuffed about and manage to recover her safe and sound. Then with very little wind left for the day we're joined by a friend as we motor home to the mooring. Lors de notre navigation en voilier le dimanche 8 septembre 2024, avec un vent établi à 25 nœuds et des rafales à 30 nœuds, nous avons eu la chance incroyable de croiser des dauphins de Risso près du plateau des Duons en Baie de Morlaix. Un moment magique en pleine mer agitée, où ces magnifiques créatures marines nous ont offert un spectacle unique. Découvrez cette rencontre inoubliable avec les dauphins dans un cadre sauvage et authentique. Le dauphin de Risso mesure adulte de 2,60 m à 3,5 mètres de long2 et pèse entre 250 et 400 kg3. Sa longévité est d'environ 40 ans, sa vitesse maximale de 30 km/h1. Sa peau porte de très nombreuses cicatrices dues aux nombreuses interactions sociales auxquelles il se confronte au cours de sa vie, et leur nombre augmente avec l'âge. En effet, une incapacité de l'épiderme supérieure à se renouveler contribue à la persistance de ces balafres1. Ainsi, même si la peau du dauphin de Risso est initialement gris foncé, il est souvent recouvert de marques gris clair, et certains individus en deviennent même totalement blancs comme les bélougas tandis que d'autres peuvent rester aussi foncés que des globicéphales. Dépourvu de rostre, il porte cependant une rainure au centre du front, unique chez les cétacés, de l'évent à la « lèvre », visible de près. De loin, la nageoire dorsale, qui est la plus longue de tous les cétacés, proportionnellement à la longueur du corps1, peut laisser penser qu'il s'agit d'une orque femelle ou jeune.

Continuing my rehabilitation of a 1987 Precision 16 sailing dinghy by filling holes in the fiberglass and building retention boards for the storage cubbies. I use MarineTex, HDPE marine board, and 3M 5200 sealant for this repair. The Precision 16 is a lightweight Stephen Seaton-designed un-ballasted centerboard sailing dinghy with a planing hull manufactured from 1982 until the mid 90s. Auf die Kreuz nach Wilhelmshöhe und Anlieger zur Reedetonne folgte der Vorwindgang zurück zum Warnemünder Leuchtturm. Die hierbei erforderlichen Halsen führten zu einem größeren Auffächern des Feldes. Deswegen konnten nur einige wenige Teilnehmer eingefangen werden - aber dafür umso intensiver .... Hoffen wir mal, dass das Sommerwetter sich jetzt durchsetzt.

✨ Installation de l’isolation Armaflex dans ma cabine – Ça change tout ! 🛠️ 🌡️ Aujourd’hui, je t’emmène dans les coulisses de l’isolation de ma cabine, réalisée avec Armaflex de chez Armacell, généreusement offert par mon partenaire Vancore 👉 www.vancore.fr. 💧 Fini la condensation dans la cabine et adieu les coups de chaud ou de froid ! J’ai posé une couche d’Armaflex de 10 mm et même si j’ai bossé en freestyle (sans gabarits 😅), le résultat est plutôt chouette ! 🔧 C’est pas encore tout à fait terminé : il reste à démonter un hublot pour refaire l’étanchéité et glisser l’Armaflex dessous, plutôt qu’autour, pour une isolation optimale. Pareil pour le hublot de pont.
