***DISCLAIMER COUPLE OF F BOMBS IN THIS EPISODE*** Vlog#4 We leave La Push for a short run down to Grays Harbour. Along the way we experienced a strong headwind and ended up ripping our sail.  We had to tack offshore farther out that we ever have before, which made us miss the bar crossing and we had to spend the night out at sea. In the middle of the night our autopilot could not maintain course any longer and we figured out why... were dragging a crab pot!   In rough seas and pure darkness in the middle of the night we managed to get free of the trap but we had to wait until daylight to try to remove the buoy that was jammed in and around out propeller.   Once the sun came up Trav unwillingly jumped into the water and surprisingly got it cut free on his first breath down.  It was definitely scary, the waves were huge and we didn't want to have any shark experiences!! Once we got cut free we were able to get along on our way.  Thankfully this all happened quickly because we made it into Grays harbour bar right before the tide switched.  If we would have taken any longer we would have had to wait another 12 hours out at sea to make it across the bar into the harbour. ---------------------------------  Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Practice or showcase, call it what you will, the 44Cup fleet simply call it another opportunity to line up against each other. And while starting off the Royal Yacht Squadron to canon fire is always special, so too is the opportunity to push your opponents hard as you work your way west along the famous Cowes Green. So, while the race from the Squadron to the starting area counted for no points, the short beat and long run provided a valuable opportunity for all to lock in numbers and techniques for the day. This was also a day that saw summer return. A 10knot breeze, flat seas and largely flat water made for a very different race course from 24 hours before. But with more south in the wind direction for the opening race the breeze was spilling over the Isle of Wight making life tricky at the top mark.

The Annapolis Sailboat Show is the place to be in October. My father and I always attended, this would have been the 23rd going back to the 1970s. Dad unfortunately passed earlier this year, and this would be the first boat show without him, this is Toni’s 3rd and Monica’s first. There were no multihulls in the beginning as they were not widely accepted in the 1970s. Now the largest lines were the lines waiting to board the catamarans, and there was no shortage of catamarans at the show. We attended the show to view in person some of the boats that we were considering before deciding on a Seawind catamaran. The Annapolis Sailboat show is very festive and sailors and dreamers from all over the world attend. Spoiler Alert, the Seawind 1260 is still the boat for us.

We discuss our sailing plans for our upcoming sobattical and the piano tuner arrives to make the piano zing. After much deliberation Hugh finally solves the problem of whether to modify the sofa we have or to build a new one from scratch. Finally he manages to retrieve Harry Potters wand from the sea. We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have the guts to cast off. Q: Luke, tell us a little bit about why you chose the Quick Gyro? A: We went with a Quick Gyro mainly because it was an aftermarket install and space was an issue! Luckily enough the Quick Gyro fit right in the space that we had, so that was one big plus for us, in-between engines in the engine room. The simpleness of the operation is another contributing factor; but also the fact that it's air-cooled and not water-cooled is a huge part for us. We spend a lot of time, because it's a marlin fishing boat, fighting fish. So we're backing up and reversing and we get a lot of air and turbulence under the boat. However we don't have any troubles with air locks in pumps or anything like that because it's all air cooled. ............................................................................... K-Challenge Team France was the dominant force for the first half of this GC32 World Championship, held in Lagos, Portugal, but for the second half it was Christian Zuerrer’s Black Star Sailing Team which overtook the French after today’s third of four races. This afternoon they were crowned the flying catamaran class’ fourth World Champions.
