Penned by Groupe Finot, launched in 2007, Paca - a simply wicked Beneteau First 27.7 is proudly and exclusively listed for sale with YOTI. It was a risky strategy, but it worked out very well!
So you're ready to Tie The Knot, here's one you need to know. The reef knot or square knot consists of two half knots, one left and one right, one being tied on top of the other, and either being tied first...The reef knot is unique in that it may be tied and tightened with both ends. At sea it is always employed in reefing and furling sails. But under no circumstances should it ever be tied as a bend, for if tied with two ends of unequal size, or if one end is stiffer or smoother than the other, the knot is almost bound to spill.
We're so happy to bring this episode to you because now are are getting to the really exciting cruising footage of NORWAY!! Before we can enjoy the country and all it has to offer though, we need to make it across the North Sea. We'd heard these can be troubled waters, and although things started out fairly smooth, although with some surrounding showers, we quickly found the motion of the ocean out here wasn't agreeing with us. We spent about 40 hours of this 50 hour passage flat on our back and barley able to move....but it was all worth it when we arrived to Norway and the sun started shining brightly. Cheers from the North Sea!! Jessica, Matt & Georgie Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. These amazing supporters help keep us on the boat, our camera equipment up to date, and the videos coming. In this episode of Sailing Millennial Falcon, we get stuck into some DIY Boat maintenance in the yard at spice island marina. The agenda for this haul out is to install (or re-install) our feathering propeller (the H5 Autoprop) from Bruntons which we initially attempt to install in the water at anchor in St Martin September last year. After some testing, we decided the installation was not correct and we switched back to our old propeller. Day one of the yard we were off to a ripper start. In the first hour, we managed to get the old propeller removed with a Prop Puller I had bought from a trade tools store in Australia for 80$ (bargain!) and after a thorough pressure wash the hull bearly needed sanding for next coat of paint (Winning!). Later that afternoon we headed over to meet our friends John and Tadji Kretschmer on their Kauffman 47 named Quetzal to conduct an interview entitled "The Wisdom of 300,000 Bluewater Miles - with John Kretschmer" Adam had arranged prior (stay tuned for that one). After a great evening we whisked ourselves off to the airport to collect some new crew who made the jump to Grenada to hide out with us whilst the COVID-19 chaos unfolds. With a few extra hands we knocked over the sanding and painting of the hull and the propeller installation takes a nerve-wracking turn as Adam comes to the conclusion the propeller is in fact NOT key bound, as he previously suspected and he needs to cut our shaft to make the Bruntons H5 Auto prop fit. Lastly, we get stuck into some Q&A and we give a quick update on the state of play on the Millennial Falcon and Grenada in general in these uncertain times. Thanks for watching! The Panama Canal transit is getting closer and because of the issue with the injector, Johan does a full check on the engine. We go to the private island Isla Linton where we find monkeys and then it’s party time! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life.

The Sailing Family crosses from the Atlantic to the Pacific in this 8 minute video, showing exactly how it's done. [Shot pre-covid]. POSTING LIVE UPDATES ON SOCIAL: https://www.instagram.com/the_sailing_family/ https://www.facebook.com/the-sailing-family-voyage/ ----------------- ABOUT US: We are a family of five sailing around the world on our "dream boat," a performance catamaran named "Archer." Ten years ago, before kids, we sailed a Lagoon 380 named "Honeymoon" halfway around the world to Sydney, Australia. Along the way we shared our experiences with family and friends via YouTube, and by happenstance created one of the first sailing channels. We also realized what an incredible experience we were having and that someday we wanted to do it again, only this time with our kids. OUR BOAT is a Ferrari red Outremer 51 performance cruising catamaran. We chose this boat as it has been specifically designed for the purpose of bluewater sailing. It was designed and built to withstand the stress of sailing multiple times around the world safely and in comfort. And yes, she's nice on the eyes too. OUR ROUTE has taken us from the Boston/Cape Cod area of the United States down to the Caribbean and then on to the Panama Canal. At the time of posting this we have dealt with the Coronavirus lock down in New Zealand and are now cruising again in Covid Free Fiji. PLEASE COMMENT!: As a "family channel," we are required to actively monitor all comments, but we still want to hear from you. Tell us what you think! THANKS for watching all. Subscribe now and never miss an episode!

It is extraordinary that after 13,000 nautical miles sailed in the Vendée Globe, just a few miles separate Yoann Richomme on Paprec Arkéa and Charlie Dalin on MACIF Santé Prévoyance. The two skippers are engaged in a match race with the Pacific Ocean as their playground. The battle behind the top three is as tight as ever, with under 200 nautical miles between Nico Lunven in fourth and Boris Herrmann in tenth. We bring you an update from Hungarian skipper Szabolcs Weöres on New Europe who has been forced to retire due to damage to a D2 shroud, an update from Boris Herrmann, the latest tracking and leaderboard and PredictWind routing options, as well as an update from Kojiro Shiraishi. #vg2024 #imoca #vendeeglobe #sailing

Aaron is on hand to help Steve with some of the fiberglass work. If you stick around to the end of the video, you'll see Victoria's sailing rig go up for the first time as she gets underway in some light winds on the local pond. -------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. We finish the prep work on our new Hallberg Rassy 44 just in time to catch the horrible weather all the way down to the Baltic. The new boat nearly winds up on the rocks as we leave Ellös. The Sail south toward the Kiel Canal is upwind into confused and crowded seas and we learn about some issues with the new hull shape. Date of passage: June 5-7, 2024
