You couldn't have picked a worst week to go sailing! It was the middle of August but you needed both fleeces and coats if you wanted to keep warm and dry and it was blowing a F4-5 gusting 6 much of the time. Even the most die hard sailor would rather have just stayed at home but none of this stopped all the kids at this year's junior week having a fantastic time. It says a lot about the kids but even more about the club. Its a club that is run by its members for its members and the volunteers who took time out of there own lives to help teach these kids how to sail did the most amazing job. Elizabeth is one of those children who is just naturally scared of anything new to start with, and wasn't really sure what to expect. But even before the week had ended she had made sure that Mummy had it written into next years diary because she loved every minute of it and plans to come back again next year for more.

On the mountain, we blow stuff up with a shotgun if we have no use for it. On the boat, things are different... It was late afternoon and we were cleaning out part of the boat when my wife issued a challenge for me to break an old kid guitar that was taking up some needed space. I told her I'd do it tomorrow. When she responded with, "You're no fun," I grabbed the guitar and climbed from the companionway hatch while saying, "Let's do this." As I walked down the dock to the park, wife and kids in tow, I put my mind into rock star mode. The song that entered my head? Stranglehold by Ted Nugent, of course. What occurs in this video is what happened after my 30 second walk to the park. (Kids stop laughing at 0:21 thinking I've lost it. Wife laughs harder.) The National Sailing Programs Symposium (NSPS) is the premier event for sailing education in the United States. NSPS is the only conference of its kind that brings together program directors, instructors, volunteers, parents and industry representatives to share and learn best practices with one another about running, maintaining and improving sailing programs. This week we finally we set sail and head straight to an island and pick up a visitors mooring. We head ashore using our new E-propulsion Spirit on our dinghy and enjoy the silent ride. The joy of being able to communicate in the dinghy is very real. Its feels good to bag our first island and enjoy a lovely meal on deck in the sunshine. We head onto Portavadie the next morning and fly the drone to show show you fantastic views of Loch Fyne. This is Episode 25 of our adventure, we have 3 weeks until we launch the boat and move aboard. This week Hugh finishes his electric cupboard and the electric installation can begin. He takes delivery of our new Gator rope cutter and misplaces some important equipment for the top of the mast. We have a small argument about a mouldy mattress and the children help to clean the mast. We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have the guts to cast off. Follow our adventures. Welcome back to our ASK PRECISION SAILS series where we build content to answer your questions. Today, Jeremy has an Oxley Twin Line Inflatable Snuffer to unbox and review. Depending on the sail you are flying you may use a single line or twin line snuffer. The Oxley Single Line Snuffer is versatile and handles most downwind sails, Spinnakers, Gennakers, etc. The Twin Line Inflatable Snuffer is used for Oxley Brand - Bora and Levante Sails. How to use the Oxley Inflatable Snuffer 1 - Inflate Unfold the snuffer tube. Open the Neoprene cover and attach the pump hose to the inflation valve. Pump the snuffer to 6 PSI. 2 - Attach Attach the snuffer "head-webbing" to the Spinnaker/Gennaker/Bora/Levante top clew with a shackle 3 - Pull In Grab the snuffer "head-webbing" with one hand and the inflated tube with the other hand. A velcro tab located closely to the "head-webbing" ensures easy access. 4 - Pull Through Pull the entire snuffer over the sail up to the Spinnaker/Gennaker/Bora/Levante tower clews.
