We got lucky. The past storm made us believe in timing, as we were supposed to be underway during it all. My grandfathers passing, on the other hand, couldn’t have come at a worse time. It was no way I could be there, and with the funeral set – my last little hope was to at least be connected so I could have a phone call with my family. But, as sailors, the weather trumps all. Very often. It’s something to be said about trusting the timing of your life. Why should you? The difference between believing in a destiny and that everything happens for a reason - versus believing in your influence on your life’s path becomes crucial. Should you really trust the wait? Embrace the uncertainty and just enjoy the beauty of becoming? In this episode we commence our month of exploration on Fiji's big island of Viti Levu, focused first on Nadi town, followed by the capital city of Suva. Unfortunately we find Fiji's national museum to be closed, but still get a chance to explore much of the city on foot and by taxi. North of Suva we explore the Colo-i-Suva Nature Park, which is a protected area characterised by jungle canopy, fresh water pools, waterfalls, and trails. And we talk a little bit about our upcoming plans....our time in Fiji is running short! Thanks for following! In today's video, we start our journey South back to Georgetown stopping at Little Farmers Cay to take in the cave, some great snorkeling and flat seas. What beautiful days. And, I had an amazing encounter with two spotted eagle rays who circled me a few times before heading into the blue. Magical. We had to leave for Georgetown a few days early so Marston could get a covid test and we also wanted to make sure we were situated before the big blow. The motor sail to Georgetown was pretty bad - the wind chop made the journey uncomfortable and the wind angle was all wrong for sailing. Brown and Marston slept most of the way, trying to ward off seasickness. We were very thankful to drop anchor in Elizabeth Harbor near the Monument Statue. We took an afternoon to hike the hill and then form our boat name out of rock, joining those who have come before us. Our time with Marston could not have been better and it was hard to say goodbye to her after only 9 days. Episode 17: San Giovanni Castle in Kotor Montenegro Another day, another adventure aboard Sailing Eriskay. Cass and Shelly embark to explore the Inner Keep of the San Giovanni Castle. We started the hike off using the trail to the north of the Castle. We are familiar with which took us high above the castle several months ago. On our adventure we discover 3 different churches, a small ancient village outside of the castle and beautifully preserved buildings throughout. This was an unexpected adventure in that we have been staring at the castle since we got here and had no idea it had so much to offer. As we approach the lower keep you will note several homes and businesses actively used today. It’s a spectacular specimen and one we’d highly recommend exploring. What a nightmare...Celina was stolen. After I left Celina at her usual spot in Palmanova safe and sound I returned the next morning to check on her. But to my surprise she was not there anymore. First I had hoped that Franz took her for an early sail but then I realized that my dinghy was drifting in the bay. The chain lock was broken and together with the chain I found it at the bottom of the sea. With pure luck I could get hands on my dinghy again and secure it at the pier where I left it before. It took me a while to realize what had happened before I ran off to the police. At the same moment I got in contact with my insurance company as well. I remembered that I was covered for theft. Or so I hoped...

Mit 15 gefahrenen Flights, war der diesjährige Tour-Stop der Segelbundesliga Saison 2023 am Attersee ein absolutes Highlight. Bei wechselhaften Wetterbedingungen und verschiedensten Winden, war vor allem die Anpassungsfähigkeit und Übersicht der Segler*innen gefragt. Schlussendlich war es erneut das Team des Segelclub Mattsees, welches sich den Event-Sieg sichern konnte. Nur eineinhalb Punkte dahinter landete das junge Team des Gastgebers, Union Yachtclub Attersee. Der SCTWV Achensee vollendete das Podium auf dem dritten Platz und konnte sich dadurch auf den vierten Rang des Gesamtklassements vorarbeiten. Weiter geht es ab dem 4. August auf dem bezaubernden Achensee in Tirol.

As a cruiser, mules (friends that bring boat parts and things you need to your boat when they visit) are a huge part of the cruising lifestyle especially if you spend most of your time outside of the United States or metropolitan areas. In this video, we designate Jeff to be our Best mule ever given that he traveled over land and sea to bring us almost 250 lbs of food and items that we needed, wanted, or would like! Jeff boarded the boat in the East Lemons and we left two days later for the Hollandes Islands, the chain that has the best anchorage in the San Blas, called the Swimming Pool. Our journey took us from Dyvig to Juelsminde, then to Tunø, Anholt, and finally to the Swedish island of Öckerö, covering over 200 nautical miles in total. Dyvig to Juelsminde Our adventure began early one morning in Dyvig. After a quick coffee and a walk with our dog Reef, we set sail for what promised to be a beautiful day on the water. The weather started cloudy but cleared up as we progressed, with temperatures reaching 18-19 degrees Celsius. We played with the sails throughout the day, adjusting them to maximize our speed in the changing wind conditions. Our journey took us through Middelfart, where we encountered strong currents. Initially planning to stop at Endelave, we decided to push on to Juelsminde, covering 52 miles in total. Arriving at Juelsminde around 19:15, we anchored and took Reef for a walk on the beach. The harbor was bustling with activity, offering various amenities including an ice cream parlor, hamburger bar, bistro, and shops. Just as we finished paying for our berth, the skies opened up with a sudden downpour, sending everyone scurrying for cover. Juelsminde to Tunø The next day greeted us with glorious sunshine. We woke early to the sight of a porpoise swimming peacefully in the harbor mouth. After a leisurely breakfast on deck and some friendly conversations with fellow sailors, we set our course towards the Danish islands of Samsø or Tunø. Before departing, we topped up our diesel, having used about 200 liters since docking in Stavoren in May. The sailing conditions were perfect, with wind speeds of 12 knots allowing us to reach 7.5 knots. We ultimately decided on Tunø, arriving around 15:30[1]. Tunø charmed us with its quaint village, unique church tower doubling as a lighthouse, and numerous stalls selling fresh produce. We enjoyed a relaxing evening on the back deck, chatting with passing admirers of our boat. Tunø to Anholt Our next leg was a long 60-mile journey to Anholt. We set off at 7:00 AM, hoping for stronger winds than we encountered. The initial slow progress and rocking motion made for a challenging start, but we eventually decided to motor-sail to make better time[1]. We arrived at Anholt harbor at 17:00, skillfully maneuvering into a tight spot between two ships. The harbor was busy with boats struggling with the mooring buoy system, which we fortunately didn't have to use. Exploring Anholt We spent the next day exploring Anholt, often called "Denmark's Hawaii" due to its beautiful beaches. The island, home to only 160 people, boasts diverse landscapes including forests, dunes, and even a desert-like area. We enjoyed long walks with Reef on the beach and cycled around the island, taking in the wooden forest houses and the village center. Anholt to Sweden Our final major leg took us from Anholt to the Swedish coast. We set sail at 10:00 AM, facing challenging conditions with winds in the 5 Beaufort range and high waves. Our dog Reef unfortunately got seasick, but we managed to make good progress until the wind died down in the afternoon. After a long day of sailing and motor-sailing, we finally anchored in peaceful Swedish waters at 19:30. We explored a rocky island by dinghy before settling in for the night. Arrival at Öckerö Our last short trip brought us to the island of Öckerö, where we met up with Dutch friends. We arrived just in time for Midsummer celebrations, joining the locals for barbecues and festivities. Our friend Rob joined us here, marking the end of this leg of our journey and the beginning of new adventures. Throughout our trip, we covered over 200 nautical miles, experienced a range of sailing conditions, and visited beautiful Danish and Swedish islands. From the challenges of long sailing days to the joys of exploring new places, our journey was filled with unforgettable experiences that reminded us why we love life at sea. #sailing #gear #sailboat

We sail from Petersen Lagoon to Port Olry stopping at Lonnoc Bay where the boys watch the AFL finals match. After arriving at Port Olry we explore the very small town. After waiting for perfect weather we fly the dronbe but it unfortunately malfunctions on take off, crashing into the sea. Taking a short hike we explore one of the two freshwater lakes on Thion Island, before snorkelling on a shallow reef exploring a large broken shipwreck in amongst the beautiful coral. So after deciding to list our beautiful boat we sold her within 3 weeks and she's now gone to her new owners. I had been keeping an eye on the market and it wasn't looking great so I thought I would list her and quietly hoped we may have another season. Working in sales I know the worst time to sell anything is when you are desperate and we had no plans of 'giving her away'! Therefore when we had a call around 3 weeks after listing her saying ' I think I have sold your boat' we were quite shocked! Having said that I knew that someone would walk on her and just like us fall for her and it was the first couple that viewed her and that was only on an off chance. She is a beautiful boat in great shape for her age so I can't really say I am surprised. On to the next chapter of our sailing life we go... Yes we will continue the YouTube channel.. Yes I have found another boat.. No I haven't yet got the price I am willing to pay so we will see how things progress! Thank you all for watching and I will look forward to catching up soon.
