Taking a journey to scuba dive at Scuba Junkie in Mabul, Malaysia is not for the faint at heart! The journey is long and expensive with necessary built-in overnights and flights. Planning is essential. With extra time, due to Covid-19, we decided to fly to Borneo on a one way flight! This would be the trip that crossed off another couple of items on our bucket list: Scuba Diving around Sipidan Island and visiting orangatans and probiscus monkeys in their natural habitat. Sadly, we learned alot about how their habitat is being destroyed by the palm oil industry. After a full day of travel and a night in Semporna, we finally arrived in Mabul! Our first few dives in Mabul BLEW US AWAY!! The muck diving is outstanding. We were also lucky that we arrived on the day that Scuba Junkie was releasing baby green turtles into the wild! It is always a great day on the water when you are joined by these majestic creatures. This playful Dolphin raced us down the run during the first race of the Quoile 2 day regatta. The foredeck often complains about all the pressure put on them to keep up with all the sail changes and mark roundings. No complaints today as he took time out to become our on board video reporting. It is a good sign of the health of Strangford lough when these guys are venturing in. It has been a few years since the team at bottom up boats have spotted any Dolphins hopefully we don't have to wait as long until the next encounter as it always turn a good days sailing into a great days sailing.

In Martinique for New Year I find togeather with traveling friends some remote beaches up in the wild north of the island. It's a shame to leave Nantwich, but it's time to move. I do my first winding (I was so proud, but sadly there is no footage!), and we go back across the aqueduct and up the Shropshire Union towards Hurleston. Locks done, I can relax for a bit and we cruise nicely along the Llangollen canal towards Swanley locks. On the way we pass some lovely countryside, old buildings, and some very overgrown willows! I do a bit of a tour past some fuel boats, and Swanley Marina, before going up the 2 Swanley locks and mooring up.
