Multihull shout out to come and play with us next spring for a mega-Multihull Centre super event: We love nothing better than some friendly multihull racing and the social get-togethers in between. This year's Royal Western Yacht Club Triangle Race as always provided the perfect early season event for just this. With a stunning collection of 10 Multihull Centre boats it was an excellent mixed fleet with varied conditions and some changes of boats and crew as the days progressed. Boats included five Dazcats: 1495 Hissy Fit, 1195 Sueños, 1150 Bare Necessities, D10 Belladonna and D995 Easy Tiger. Also five other @Multihull Centre boats: The Le Rouge Adonante, The Shuttleworth Design Morpheus, The Farrier Twister, The Newick Trimaran Nemo and the Diam 24 one design Raygun. We also started out with D-1 (Darren Newton), but that's another story... Come and join us next year and help to make it a Multihull Centre super event: RWYC will also host the MOCRA Nationals as part of the regular Triangle event, adding some inshore races and an extra day. It'll be double everything - double fun, double, sailing, double the chance of winning a prize and double the socialising! There'll be three inshore races on Friday 29th April followed by a Mocra warm-up party at the RWYC Friday night. This then rolls into the traditional Triangle bank holiday weekend, racing along the stunning Cornish coast, with the usual socials along the way in Falmouth & Fowey and finished off with a Prize giving at the RWYC on Monday 2nd May at 1600. The Triangle Race, sponsored by Pantaenius UK, is three legs over three days: Plymouth to Falmouth; Falmouth to Fowey; Fowey to Plymouth. It's firmly one of our favourites and it's exciting news that it'll combine neatly with the MOCRA Nationals. Hope the video inspires you to join us for next year's fun.

Juli 2023: bei 44 Grad kauften Luis und ich am 18. Juli in Nydri ein und motoren in die wunderschöne Abelaki Bucht auf Meganisi. Es ist so heiß, dass wir es den ganzen Tag nur im Wasser aushalten. Wir weihen Abends den Lotus-Grill ein. Wir lieben grillen und für das Schiff erschien uns dieser Holzkohlengrill perfekt. Wir benutzten ihn mittlerer Weile auch für 5 Personen und sind wirklich begeistert. 19. Juli, Mittwoch: wir motorten nach Kastos in den Hafen. Es sind nur noch 2 Plätze frei. Viele ankern schon vor Kastos und einige mit Landleine am West-Ufer. Auch hier schwimmen wir den ganzen Tag, tauchen alle Anker ab und besuchen Abends die Windmühlen-Bar (Mylos Cocktail Bar Kastos) . Dort gefiel es uns richtig gut! 20. Juli Donnerstag: wir badeten den ganzen Tag nördlich von Kastos bis unser Anker von einer anderen Crew gehoben wurde. Wir motorten dann zurück nach Meganisi in die Bucht Spilia. Dort aßen wieder lecker und waren noch lange im Wasser. 21. Juli Freitag: Luis wollte noch Flossen kaufen. Da ich den Laden in Lefkas ganz gut fand, legten wir kurz am Stadtkai an. Leider waren die Lazy-Lines verknotet. Als Luis meinte, dass an unserer Lazy-Line keine Muring-Leine hängt, gab ich Gas um umzuparken. Dabei zogen wir uns dann die Nachbar-Muringleine ein. Ärgerlich! Glücklicher Weise war es unser "Home-Steg" und wir bekamen sofort einen Taucher gerufen, der uns für "wenig" Geld von der Leine befreite und bei der Gelegenheit unter Wasser noch das Durcheinander sortierte. Er bestätigte, dass die Leinen übereinander lagen. Kurz vor 14 Uhr legten wir ab und warteten vor der Drehbrücke. Bei Wind ist man ständig beschäftigt in der "Warteschlange" von den anderen Schiffen frei zu bleiben. Ich beneidete einen Segler noch, dass er dort cool seinen Anker geworfen hat, als aber die Brücke aufging, hing er unten wohl an etwas fest und konnte den Anker nicht heben. Wir alle mussten uns mit "Gegenverkehr" vorbei quetschen. Er brauchte sicher auch einen Taucher und verpasste zu dem die Brückenöffnung. Also dort NIE den Anker werfen!!! Wir legten am Stadtkai von Preveza an. Auch der war ziemlich voll und der Anker hielt erst beim 2. Mal. Wir mussten für die morgigen Gäste noch das Schiff sauber bekommen. Bis in die Nacht putzen wir es außen, weil keiner unter Deck wollte, wegen der Hitze. Aber Morgens waren wir dann bereit. Insgesamt war es eine kurze Woche - ohne Wind - bei großer Hitze, die wir überwiegend im Wasser an tollen Orten verbrachten. Gesamt 51 sm motort So geht´s weiter: Am Samstag kamen dann meine beiden anderen Söhne und die Tochter meiner Schwester und gemeinsam wollten wir in einer Woche um Zakynthos rum segeln: Nachdem mich schon manche kontaktierten, dass sie uns gerne mal ein Mythos-Bier spendieren würden, anbei der gewünschte Link ;) Hinterlasst gerne Eure Mobil-Nummer, dann mache ich einen Video-Call beim nächsten Anlegerbier und ihr seid live dabei. IN THIS VIDEO: We left foggy Nova Scotia for foggy Maine in order to visit our friends Becca and Peter who live in Yarmouth, ME. We last saw them in The Bahamas, and they offered use of their mooring ball by their home, so of course we had to visit! We tackled several projects from fixing a broken bilge pump in our gray water sump, getting rid of mold on our cushions, cleaning our windows while under passage, and tightening our paddelboards. We also had time to start adding additional pneumatic hinges to our cockpit lazarettes. We also learned how to remotely steer our boat using the Active Captain app for our Garmin instruments. Finally, we did have a chance to relax and do some paddleboarding to a nearby island. Our visit culminated with a neighborhood party on our boat. CURRENT LOCATION: https://forecast.predictwind.com/tracking/display/SV-GTFO/ ABOUT OUR CATAMARAN: We love our new Balance 482 - it's a perfect size for a cruising couple to handle and is a great "balance" of performance and comfort. One of our favorite features is the excellent ventilation since we mostly live as "hookers" (aka at anchor) where the boat automatically turns into the wind so we stay cool and we don't need to battle mold. We also have starlink for easy off-grid life. Our 2400 watt solar panel array also means we rarely need to run an engine to charge our batteries. ABOUT US: We saved for a our future boat, sold everything that we owned, and shipped the rest in a container to Cape Town, South Africa. We then flew there and explored South Africa by way of a safari and touring Cape Town before moving aboard our boat. We then sailed to Saint Helena, Ascension Island, Fernando de Naronha (Brazil), Martinique, Sint Maarten (Dutch and French side), the US Virgin Islands (Saint Croix, Saint John, and Saint Thomas), the British Virgin Islands (Anegada, Norman Island, Jost van Dyke, and Anegada), The Bahamas (Inagua, Crooked Island, Long Island, George Town, Staniel Cay, the Exumas, and Eleuthera). We then sailed back to the United States, making landfall in Cape Canaveral, Florida. From there our destinations are endless! Both Dennis and Ann grew up military brats with Army fathers. Dennis (the Colonel) served 30 years in the US Army and his retirement pension helped us retire in our 50s. Ann (the ship's Captain) wrote Test Automation in Python and Java. Dennis and Ann met on Match.com where Ann had in her profile "Do you want to sail the world with me?" Ann easily brought Dennis into sailing, and he loved the GTFOplan of retiring early and sailing the world. After many years of saving, living on one income but earning two, and cutting back on everything possible, they saved enough to buy a Balance 482.
