The first sail of the year, a weekend cruise to Poulsbo. The boat is an Atkin designed Ingrid Ketch. It was a chilly winter sail, but almost no rain which is as good as it gets for February in Seattle!

We had a smooth day trip (starting under engine but later beautifully tacking along) over to Roatan, Tom got his work done amd we explored the island a bit. While high winds and colder temperatures may prevent tasks from being completed on deck, it’s a great time to hunker down below and work on some projects. There’s been a nice dent made in the to-do list. Robin is psyched to find that Starlink has a home. And now that shore power is up and running, Steve gives Robin a tutorial on the process. It turns out that the diesel heater provides plenty of warmth, so Steve decides to repurpose the wood stove space. Luckily, thanks to his past foresight, Steve designed the area for easy disassembly and modification. Good job, past Steve! While working on the cabinetry, he also adds a spice rack so there is plenty of storage for Robin’s beloved salt. Steve and Robin take a trip to the Cape Cod Maritime Museum located in Hyannis to learn about the area’s nautical history. The Executive Director provides a tour, highlighting exhibits that focus on the lighthouses of Cape Cod, female trailblazers of Cape Cod, the Portland Gale, and the Lifesaving Service. The museum is currently working on restoring a surf boat and offers youth programs, including boat-building courses. Update, just replace clutch slave and master cylinder: https://youtu.be/j4ESmdy9ZZc Jeep clutch would not engage when released so you could let off the clutch with it in gear and the Jeep Wrangler YJ would not move. I have never worked on a manual transmission, but when I went through some basic troubleshooting I was able to get the jeep moving again. If we would have taken it to a shop they were telling me it was $75 just to look at, plus towing it to the shop, and I was looking at $200 to $1000 plus just to fix it. It is good to look at the issue yourself just to narrow it down to help avoid this kind of cost. We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef... We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace as we have just had our first baby, born in Malaysia! OMG we've had some good laughs these last few weeks, I said to Brittni, every sailor needs a girl onboard for multiple reasons... Anyway, we kick off the week with good vibes at the local Gin Distillery in Mahon, Menorca, which is pretty famous for it's Gin, well I guess that one was obvious lol. We then get the dinghy trapped under the dock as the tide rises it's massive 30cm... Then Brittni goes and shocks the whole anchorage with an accidental wet t-shirt competition in a flash storm as we almost run into another boat! The joys of Boat Life... Tough question to answer isn’t it? We get to ponder this while several storm systems hand out lightning bolts and wind gusts aplenty in this episode! If bad weather is on the horizon, our instinct is to find a safe anchorage and hole up while it blows over. This is usually the prudent option; although when lighting starts raining down making us feel like sitting ducks, we almost wish we were on the move instead. But then the winds pick up, and we’re back giving thanks for our ground tackle. We endure three stormy weather events, one with damaging lightning, another with sustained high winds, and a third in which we drag anchor. BIRTH and LABOR vlog, our honest and raw birth vlog. A natural birth after a c-section. This is the most special vlog of 2022 we have made so far, the birth of our beautiful little girl Eleanora. An overdue birth 41 weeks and 2 days pregnant with our second baby after a c-section: a natural labor and delivery in the hospital, a labor of in total 4 hours, with the complication that the umbilical cord was two times wrapped around the neck of the baby and mom lost 1 liter of blood. With the intention of doing everything totally natural and with extractions going through the roof, I ended up asking for anesthetics 🥺 Will I do a vaginal birth again? No 🤣 Thanks for watching!
