Welcome to Sailing Frida af Wisby this is a little introduction video to our channel and a summary of our sailing so far. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

We set sail, Bayly makes lunch onboard. We see a giant military submarine. The following day was supposed to be nice but we end up needing to turn back when we find ourselves in huge waves and 25 knots of wind coming directly at us. We sail back super quick at almost 7 knots of speed because of the high winds now coming from behind us.

After all the shake downs, and the Annapolis Sailboat Show, and the voyage home, it was finally time for Toni and I to go on our first maiden voyage on Moments in Time. We headed out of Solomons in the spitting rain with no agenda. We were to let the winds dictate our course and destination. But after crossing the bay we realized that the winds were diminishing so we decided to head up the Patuxent River where the potential anchorages were plenty. Moments in Time continued to sail on 4-5 knots of wind until the last breath, where we fired up Lucy and Rickey and headed into St. Leonard Creek, where we dropped the hook in a familiar anchorage of St. John’s Creek. We celebrated our 39th Wedding Anniversary with a nice dinner and a bottle of Champagne. We awoke the next morning to the all-day pouring rain and declared the day a boat chore day. We enjoyed another nice dinner and awoke the next morning and raised the anchor. The rain had stopped, but the winds were still shifting around 4-5 knots so we jibed down the Patuxent and back to Solomons. We successfully backed in our slip for the very first time and celebrated with a decadent meal that we rarely cook for ourselves. A glass of red wine with John Denver playing on the Fusion sound system marked the end of our maiden voyage. Subscribe and share the adventure! Nous dédions cette vidéo à notre club de plongée "Royale ASM Plongée Mons" : nous sommes venus chez vous pour pouvoir vivre des moments comme dans cette vidéo. Merci à tous nos moniteurs pour leurs partages d'expériences ! On pense souvent à vous sous l'eau ;-) En arrivant en Guadeloupe, nous sommes obligés de nous abriter côté ouest pour éviter les alizées apportant de gros coups de vent et une forte houle. Nous choisissons Malendure, "Pigeon" pour être plus précis et ce fût un excellent choix. L'île de la Guadeloupe est merveilleuse et offre un panel d'activités et de paysages pour chaque jour. Mais qui dit Malendure, dit plongée sous-marine. En effet, juste à côté de notre mouillage, se trouve les Ilets Pigeon classé en parc naturel (ainsi que le reste de la baie) et qui sont donc un lieu fantastique pour le snorkeling et la plongée. On en a vu de toutes les couleurs ! Nous avons aussi fait une magnifique plongée sur l'épave "Franjack", mais je n'ai malheureusement pas pu filmer. Nous avons eu beaucoup de visites à bord aussi : entre belges vivants sur l'île et belges en vacances, copains bateaux et amis guadeloupéens ... les apéros ont défilé !!! Et puis comme toujours, les découvertes à terre : randos, volcans, cascades, musées, fort, paysages, forêts, culture, trésors de l'île... Nous n'avons donc quasiment pas navigué durant plus de 20 jours mais cela n'empêche pas de gérer les soucis liés à la vie en mer : déplacements en annexe, casier de pêcheurs coincé dans la chaîne de l'ancre, nuits en mode veille pour vérifier la tension sur la chaîne (rafales à plus de 25 et large angle de rotation), gestion de l'eau (le matériel de plongée doit être rincer à chaque fois). Par contre pour l'avitaillement se fût un jeu d'enfant : le petit port Pigeon est aussi un mini centre commercial : laverie, boucherie, boulangerie, supermarché, maraîcher, pompe à essence. Nous avions tout sur place ! Quelle facilité. La Guadeloupe est une très belle destination pour la plaisance !

Bikinis, pelicans, sail locker, amplifier, stereo and more.... Karen tries on mix matched bikinis outfits in anticipation of warmer weather coming soon. Steve enjoys viewing the combination of bikini outfits and bare skin. We were lucky enough to see a bird feeding frenzy show brought about by several pelicans. It was wonderful to see so many and so close. A dolphin even managed to slip through their feeding ground. Steve finished the installation of the second amplifier in the salon. The video may not do the sound changes justice. On board you can hear the change in fullness of the tunes being played through the Fusion stereo and Kicker box speakers in the salon. After pulling everything out of the front sail locker, we sand and prepare the area for painting with bilge paint. It’s a little tricky painting the locker floor so we connected a brush to a pole. It worked well and once the bottom was painted and dried, Karen was able to get in the locker and almost finish painting the sides.
