Working in this area has been an emotional rollercoaster. This is the FIRST area I attempted my fairing at, and would go back and forth to it so many times, as I began to focus on other areas like our cabinets. The only problem is, the strange curves in here make it a world away from the plumb and level cabinets I've been working on, but I've been trying to treat them as if they were the same. Trying to perfect that area, even though it didn't need it. Well, after getting very frustrated with my beginner results, I knew I had to suck it up and keep moving forward. Half way back to Los Angeles, right in the middle of the shipping channel we came across a very spooky "Ghost Ship" that had its anchor hanging down in the 1400 ft of water and was towing a half sunk dinghy. It was an eerie sight! after circling and calling out we called it into the USCG. After that we took in a beautiful sunset and made our way home completely under sail power! So who is this crazy sailing couple making fun videos to share? Well, we are Kate and Curtis. We both sold up and headed out to sea, with the goal of sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We brought our mixed rescue dog along with us as she loves sailing and swimming too! Our yacht is a year 2000 J Boats J/46. We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale, when we found it, we knew it was the one. We spent 6 months re-fitting it in Rhode Island and then went for our shakedown voyage in Maine. We stopped in Annapolis for a bit to do some more refit work and offshore modifications, then we set off to the open sea. We went to the Bahamas, Miami, US Virgin Islands, BVI, Grenada, Carriacou, St. Maarten, where we enjoyed outdoor adventures, scuba diving, and have now did an Atlantic Crossing to the Azores where we had a chance to fly our DJI drone (and learned how to fly a drone from a boat) and one of our favorite past times, mountain biking. We have sailed over 10,000 bluewater miles to date. We watched other sailing channels before we left as well. We even considered van life, a tiny home, or a motorhome / rv. Some of the channels we enjoyed were Gone with the Wynns, Project Atticus, and MJ Sailing. We didn't really set out to be influencers, but we wanted to return the good karma and pass our inspiration and knowledge along. Later on we sail to Acklins and found a settlement full of cars on the side of the road. We visited the Ovni 37 from Alubat! Such a spacious an aluminum bluewater cruising sailboat! We are Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple that during a sabbatical trip in 2016 decided to follow our dream. So, we created "Odd Life Crafting", a project composed of many smaller projects that we call seasons. The first one was the creation of Odd Life Crafting. The idea was to build a metal boat to be able to travel the world taking our house with us, but we didn't have money for that. So, we started the next season: we built a tiny shipping container house with no prior experience in building to gain some skills to build a boat. When we were almost finished we found a boat 700km away from our hometown that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her (Season 3). The last season has been a dream coming true… we are exploring the Brazilian coast with OUR BOAT that we called Odd.. But wait? What happened to the house?
