On a foggy, cold, rainy day, we ventured to the south coast of Connecticut to reacquaint Captain Q with a sistership of a boat he used to own - a 1972 Chance 32/28 Paceship sailboat for sale. The 32 is the length overall and the 28 is the waterline length. CQ raced this to 4th place in the Halifax race (from Marblehead, Massachusetts to Halifax, Nova Scotia) back in the day. It's a neat boat and a tidy price for a sailboat for sale... and she appears to be in quite good shape, despite the soggy, chilly rain that we had to endure. We make our way down to the Dry Tortugas in a 2 day trip. We stopped in Cabbage Key, FL to rest up before our 24 hour sail to Fort Jefferson. Along the way, I got seasick. I'm usually okay in rough seas, however I happened to have a bad sinus infection a few days prior and had to take a round of antibiotics. This makes me nauseous to begin with so that is probably the reason the conditions affected me this time. Good news, it didn't last that long! After anchoring in Cabbage Key, we took the dinghy to the "dollar bar" and had the chef prepare our fresh catch. It was delicious! The next day, we had a great time on our sail to the Dry Tortugas. Dolphins interrupted our ice cream treat, but we didn't mind! They hung with us a good 10 minutes. What an amazing site to see them in their natural habitat! As the night approaches, we prepare a fantastic dinner and settle into the night. Nick and I took 3 hour shifts on the night watch. While I was on my last watch, a few dozen shrimp boats were all over the place. The radar alarm was going off every minute. I noticed a boat that looked like it was headed straight for us. I woke Nick up and he confirmed they were too close for comfort. It was a close call... As we approach our destination, we become worried about our friends. They were sailing on a different course but we should have been able to get in contact by that point. We must have called them 20 times. Nothing...Stay tuned to see what happens! Ocean King 130 has been coordinated for the architectural project part and fitting by inNave, internally and externally designed by the well-known designer Andrea Vallicelli and built by Cantieri Navali Chioggia shipyards (CNC). The yacht is 40.25 meters long, 10 meters wide and with a 170.000 lt fuel capacity. Besides the broad internal spaces, Genesia has a very large external upper deck able to host two tenders and two lasers plus an ample sun deck and a dining area. As the other explorer yachts from the Ocean King series, Genesia has been designed and built to be ale to sail worldwide, dealing with any weather conditions. Conceived and built as a real ship, taking inspiration by tug boats, Ocean King 130 can host till twelve guests in six cabins plus seven crew members. This new boat, following the line of the other Ocean King explorer yachts, is provided with professional technical equipment and not pleasure craft ones; therefore, it can boast a superior technical level of types of machinery, materials, and instruments, which guarantee a professional security and functionality. David Ballarin, the associate of CNC, is more than positive about this launch because it is a new achievement for shipyards in Venice area. Within less than a year from the previous launch of Ocean King 100, Genesia takes advantage of the shipyards investments for the upgrade of the new warehouse in Chioggia. The rise of the shipyards’ quality standard makes it possible to welcome luxury yachts for refitting. Ocean King 130 would not be possible without the synergy between CNC, inNave team and the professional work of Vallicelli studio. Thanks to this fruitful collaboration has been possible to redesign an existing ship, change some parts and add a bulbous bow in order to increase the efficiency, the cruising speed and the maximum speed of the yacht. The ocean king line grows, but it remains a niche segment for sea enthusiast clients who are looking for a trusted and professional brand and for boat owners who know what it means to sail in safety, comfort, and economy.

Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. Just because we are not able to continue sailing around the world, does not mean we cannot keep exploring where we are. Boat life to us, is more than just sailing. We enjoy being anchored away from everyone and everything and enjoying the nature around us. A major reason we love living on Nandji is to live closer to nature and immerse ourselves amongst the elements. It's the little things in life that are the most rewarding. A simple bow shower under the rain makes all the difference. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! Off the Starboard Hull is a series of videos about a Canadian couple from Parksville, Vancouver Island who left July 21, 2016 to sail around the world. Com o tempo aprendemos que um dos principais motivos desse modelo não funcionar, eventualmente, era a oxidação de pequenas partes no coração do carburador, provocada pelo álcool contido na gasolina nacional. Para evitar essa dor de cabeça é muito importante que se faça uma limpeza no carburador, sempre que o motor for ficar sem uso por mais de uma semana.
