Friends joining you onboard? Send them this first. ⛵ After four seasons of welcoming family and friends onboard, Mike and Linda have learned a few tricks. Don't lock in the meeting point too early, always ask what kind of experience your guests want, and most importantly... soft bags only! 😂 And forget thinking you need a marina. Sometimes arriving by dinghy to a secluded anchorage becomes one of the best parts of the trip. Tag the friends you’re hosting. 👇 FULL STORY - https://tmgyachts.com/cruising-the-mediterranean-provisioning-hosting-guests-life-onboard/

Osmosis repairs and tackling our sea water leaks. This is boat ownership, so we love when services make it a whole lot easier. Boaters World is offering you 10% off all products on their site www.boatersworld.com.au Check em out and use our code! SAILINGNAKAMA10 We’ve pulled into Hobart, Tasmania, just in time for the winter. We needed a break from sailing, and our boat needed some attention. We thought it’d be a short stopover, but we’ve decided to stay until the weather clears again. Allowing us time to drag our boat onto land and give her some love. We’ve just spent the first couple of days beginning to deconstruct the boat and unfortunately in the process, we found a below waterline issue we ought to address. We're doing osmosis repairs and begin the job of replacing all our seacocks. Which requires bashing out holes in our boat. We're fully committed now. Enjoying the episodes? 📨 Join our newsletter: https://sailingwithsix.kit.com/9c29113ead After 11 days at sea, St Helena felt like the perfect place to stop, reset and catch our breath. But this tiny island in the middle of the South Atlantic turned out to be far more than just a convenient stopover. We explored Jamestown, tackled Jacob’s Ladder far too many times, hiked through some of the island’s wildest landscapes, swam with a ray that appeared beside the boat, met some fascinating people along the way, and got a look inside one of the tiny boats competing in the Mini Globe Race. We also discovered just how much history is packed into this little rock — from old fortifications and Napoleon’s exile to shipwrecks still lying beneath the anchorage. St Helena surprised us in all the best ways. Come with us as we explore one of the most remote and interesting islands we’ve visited yet. ————— ⛵ Welcome aboard Sailing with Six! Jack Yeager bought a million-dollar-plus sailboat before he knew how to sail—and then learned by taking her across oceans. After selling the software company he had spent eight years building, Jack chose adventure over the sensible next step. His first boat was Phase 8, a 62-foot Beneteau Oceanis Yacht. Over the next five years, he sailed the Mediterranean, crossed the Atlantic, cruised the Caribbean, transited the Panama Canal, explored the Pacific and made it all the way to Alaska. In this candid conversation, Jack tells Cap’n Tinsley about solo sailing a 62-foot yacht, docking among multimillion-dollar boats in Monaco, getting caught in dense fog near Marseille, sailing under a full moon in the Sea of Cortez and watching lightning strike the Freedom Tower above his New York marina. He also shares the wilder side of the journey: being handcuffed by Canadian customs, losing his engine after leaving Alaska, getting caught in 55-knot winds, breaking the boom and facing the moment when he thought, “This is it. I’m gonna die.” This is a story about taking chances, learning the hard way, trusting yourself and actually leaving the dock. ⚓ GUEST Jack Yeager ⛵ BOAT Phase 8 Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62 CHAPTERS 0:00 Preview: $1M Sailboat, Handcuffs & 55 Knots 0:32 From Detroit to Farm Life & an $800 Tractor 4:37 How Sailing Quieted a Workaholic Mind 6:26 Choosing a 62-Foot Beneteau Before He Could Sail 10:40 Why He Named Her Phase 8 14:02 Mediterranean Sailing: Every Day Was Christmas 16:01 Barcelona, Marseille Fog & the South of France 21:03 Solo Sailing, Monaco & Mediterranean Mooring 29:37 Crossing the Atlantic & Cruising the Caribbean 35:00 The U.S. East Coast & Lightning Over Freedom Tower 43:00 Transiting the Panama Canal 47:13 Venice, Whales & the Sea of Cortez 49:27 COVID, Starlink & Sailing Under a Full Moon 53:29 Insurance Trouble & Montenegro 56:03 Returning to a Locked-Down America 1:01:10 Canadian Customs, a Starter Pistol & Handcuffs 1:04:29 Alaska, No Engine & a Mayday Offshore 1:06:36 55 Knots, No Engine & a Broken Boom 1:08:25 “This Is It. After days of nonstop rain, we finally get some sunshine and make the most of it! 🌴☀️ In this episode, we start with a few cosmetic boat jobs we’ve been putting off while waiting for the weather to improve. Then we set sail through Bocas del Toro, Panama, heading to Dolphin Bay Yacht Club to check out one of the popular cruising spots on the islands and meet some of the people who call this beautiful part of Panama home. From there, we sail to Starfish Beach on Isla Colón, where the weather finally turns picture perfect. We spend a few days enjoying the tropical paradise — exploring Starfish Beach, paddle boarding through the crystal-clear water, walking the beach trails, eating some seriously good food, getting out for some skurfing, and even letting our cats have their own little beach adventure! 🐈🌴 This is exactly the kind of island life we dreamed about when we started sailing — warm water, beautiful beaches, good food and plenty of time to slow down and enjoy where we are. 📍 Bocas del Toro, Panama ⛵ Isla Colón | Dolphin Bay | Starfish Beach ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⛵ Join us aboard our 40ft sailboat, Escapade, as we navigate the highs and lows of full-time sailing, boat life, and the adventures that come with exploring the world by sea. 🔥 If you're enjoying the videos, you can Hype this episode on YouTube to help support the channel and share our adventures with more people. 🎥 Watch from the beginning: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcpg_1nM2Z5zzbEr20cfs0K1W3FAV46DJ 🫶🏽 Patreon (early access / ad-free): https://www.patreon.com/Leadingtheescapade ☕ One-off support: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/leadingtheescapade
