You can research liveaboard life endlessly – but some lessons only show up once you’re living it. In this video, we share 7 things you only learn living aboard – the hard, the unexpected, and the genuinely life-changing. After moving aboard full-time, we quickly realised that boat life isn’t just about sailing and sunsets. It’s about systems, mindset, weather awareness, constant problem-solving, and learning how to live well in a very small, very dynamic space. In this episode, we cover: – Why less really is more when you live aboard – The small upgrades that became absolute game-changers – How organisation can make or break daily life on a boat – What the ocean teaches you about weather, patience, and control – The mental load of safety, power management, and constant alertness – The parts of liveaboard life that are quietly exhausting – And why, despite everything, it’s worth every single minute It hasn’t all been easy – there were moments that were uncomfortable, confronting, and at times genuinely terrifying. But the growth, confidence, and sense of achievement that come from living this way have been extraordinary. We’re heading out again next season with a different style of trip, a bigger focus on provisioning and self-reliance, and a few more lessons under our belt. This video captures the foundation that got us there. Thanks for watching. I want...... no NEED! For this wonderful, amazing, great dog "Prada" to be adopted to a loving forever home somewhere far far away where it's much colder than it is here in the Dominican Republic! Here's the deal: For the past couple months I've been volunteering with the Coconut Hound Haven in Luperon the Dominican Republic. This place is a sanctuary for dogs that have been abandoned, mistreated, mal nourished, or left to starve. This is the place that's cleaned up the streets of the little town, and helped give so many dogs a second chance at life. They do an absolutely amazing job, especially considering the limited resources they have to work with(donate if you can please). When I first started volunteering I'd help walk, socialize, and play with the dogs. Yes that is what they call helping out, and it's very much needed. But I just call that fun. I got to pet & play with dogos! However, I soon started realized I could do more. I could help specific dogs get adopted using my social media channels. So that's what I did. In particular I've been focusing on Prada. A 3 year old, 60lb pure bred Shepard/Huskey 50/50 mix. And she has been doing amazing! If you want to be active and have a great dog, this is the one for you! We finish sailing across the Atlantic after 28 days at sea and arrive at Horta on the island of Faial, Azores. We had to sail very conservatively to protect the rigging so the journey ended up taking much longer than we had hoped. Getting into port with the rig still up was our priority, so we took the win 😁 We are very pleased to have made the crossing back to the Azores from the Caribbean. Nova Vita performed brilliantly the whole way. The rigging was repaired whilst we were here. We ordered 2 new inners which came from the mainland and which we fitted ourselves (a simple task). Horta is a great place to spend some time and it was good to relax here after the crossing.

And the closer we came to the “exit” of the Gulf of Corinth on the west side, the more we saw the bridge near the city of Patras appear. It is the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world, about 2,880 metres long, connecting the Peloponnese peninsula with mainland Greece. There were quite a few challenges in building the bridge, as the foundation had to be placed in deep water with a loose seabed, and there is seismic activity and tectonic movement in this area because the Gulf of Corinth is slowly expanding. The bridge was opened shortly before the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. The vertical clearance under the bridge deck is approximately 52 metres in the widest central section. In the side sections (less central), the height is considerably lower, around 32 metres, and at the very edges about 15 metres.
A trip taken in vain. We went to Dallas for a special event except while in flight the event was canceled. Landed and immediately rearranged our return flight for the next day. At least we had time to drive by a few of our old dancing clubs in Deep Ellum and enjoy some great jambalaya at the Free Man Cajun Cafe & Lounge. Brought back some great memories. Our first episode, Refitting a Catalina 42 sailboat, dancing and messing around Ep 1, was videoed at a few of those clubs. Steve’s been soaking the bolts on Isabella’s engine riser’s flange for several weeks. He was able to remove them and take off the flange. Next step, remove the protective insulation on the riser to expose the metal portion and have a welder weld the flange onto the riser. We’re making progress on fixing the exhaust leak, yea! More to come on that...but that’s another episode. It had been a while since the Vitrifrigo refrigerator had been defrosted, so that was next on our to do list. The ice had built up quite a bit and it was definitely time to melt that away. Once defrosted, it was time to celebrate aka dance time.
