In April 2022, the U.S. Coast Guard updated its regulations for fire extinguishers aboard recreational boats. Make sure you check your boat's fire extinguisher expiration dates during your prelaunch checklist this year. Basically, this new law says that you need to check that your fire extinguishers are in serviceable condition, no more than 12 years old, and in some cases have the new 5-B, 10-B, 20-B labeling instead of B-I and B-II. No changes have been made to the number of fire extinguishers you must carry aboard. If your fire extinguishers don't meet these criteria, it's time to replace them. Luke Lawrence Andrew McCrae and Eric Lawrence snatched the Coral Reef Cup from Steve Benjamin in an eight race slugfest over the long weekend March 25-27 on sunny BIscayne bay. Coral Reef Yacht club and their army of volunteers did an amazing job of hosting the event, both on and off the water!
