Not all Wal-Marts allow overnight camping, in fact most in CA don't allow it and many Walmart's in larger cities don't allow you to sleep in your vehicle. Always call in advance to verify their overnight parking policy. Luckily there are several answers to this problem. For now, let's talk about one. Wal-Mart Camping! It's not my favorite place to visit. They are lacking in the eco-friendly and small business department, but they have one big thing going for them when it comes to helping the weary traveler: Many are RV, truck and car camping friendly. They are one of the few retailers that allow you to stay in their parking lot overnight. When you are on a long trip and can't find any rest stops or campgrounds along your route, Wal-Mart starts looking pretty good. The important thing to remember when doing this is to do it the right way. So watch the video, take some notes and let us know if you have any other helpful advice for others. Can you imagine the child like delight over bobbing jack-o'-lanterns surrounded by nibbling fish during an Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest! Every year the Lake Havasu Dive Association holds just an event. The annual event is staged by Captain Kathy of the association and all you have to do is show up with your pumpkin and gear in hand. Armed with dive knives, tiny saws and a little imagination, diver's suit up and swim down 15-30ft to sculpt away. Judges rate divers on their artistic originality, as well as the degree of difficulty to carve the entry in the watery and buoyant environment. Best part is, there is no fee to participate!
