Young Challenger's Cup 2014 @ French Bay Yacht Club, New Zealand. AC-Style course Fleet race round robin 4 identical Wetas Quiz and Fitness component Crew of 3 Well the first Young Challengers Cup has been and gone and what a success it was. The teams arrived on Friday night full of enthusiasm and were all rearing to go. The event started with a welcome from Paddy then a briefing of the event from Allan. The first point scoring activity started on the first night as well with an observation test which was won by FBYC Boys getting 10 from 10 questions correct. Saturday started with half an hours exercise before breakfast then transfers to FBYC. Don and Fergus did the sailing briefing and then the teams headed out for the days sailing. Six races were completed before the cold took its toll on some of the smaller kids and racing was called off for the day with the wind dying away to nothing from the nice steady breeze we started the day with. After relocating back to Motu Moana for the rest of the day showers were in order before dinner and the the 120 question quiz. All the teams did an awesome job at the quiz with FBYC Boys winning with 107 correct. Marist Girls were second on 103. Sunday once again started with exercise and then the hiking bench challenge which was won by Wakatere Boys and FBYC Boys second. After breakfast we transferred back to FBYC and left a wonderful team of helpers to clean the camp. The wind gods weren’t playing ball unfortunately and sailing was abandoned with winds gusting 30+ knots. The last off water activity took place in the clubrooms with all teams having two turns at the spinnaker hoist. Wakatere Boys once again came out on top but only by 2 seconds from the Marist Girls team. Chris from Weta marine took some of the kids for a blast on a Weta before lunch and then we had prize giving. Wakatere Boys came out on top having won four of the previous days races and took home the Young Challengers Cup. Second went to FBYC Boys and third to Marist Girls. A huge thanks to our sponsors, Weta Marine, Giltrap VW, Lancer Industries, Alpine Fresh and New World Green Bay. Everyone had an awesome time and we now look forward to making next year’s event run even bigger and better. Thanks to all club members who helped over the weekend and in the months of planning. There was a double French gold in the RS:X fleets at the Santander 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships as Julien Bontemps claimed the men’s title and Charline Picon picked up the women’s. Picon had sealed Women’s RS:X gold overnight whilst Bontemps had a comfortable lead in the men’s and needed a solid race to seal the deal. The Men's and Women's 470 is set for a thirlling finale on Saturday 20 September as the Medal Race places were decided. We all hear about these, and a movie was made about it, but encountering one send a shiver up your spine. On our Atlantic crossing in 2013, we came across this container about 400 miles west of the Azores. When first spotted, we thought it might be a life raft because of the colour and shape. The radar did show a small blip when we were a half mile away. Fortunately it was day time and visibility was good. If it was night, we may have run into it and.......... Was ich zunächst für eine letzte Pflichtübung auf der Durchquerung Schwedens auf dem Binnenweg gehalten habe, wurde dann aber doch eine sehr vielseitige Fahrt durch den sehr einsamen Trollhättän Kanal samt imposanter Schleusen, weiter durch den Fluss Göta Alv gesäumt von Industrie, dem Besuch einer mittelalterlichen Festung und schliesslich der sehr emotionalen Ankunft in Göteborgs Hafen Lilla Bommen, mitten in der City.

The Olympic Champions from New Zealand take us around their 470 in Santander.
The 1996/'14 Hatteras Motor Yacht, GOOD TIMES represents a large Hatteras Motor Yacht with full walk-around decks, spacious interior, and a four stateroom layout with separate forward crew quarters. Outdoor areas feature a large air-conditioned aft deck along with an enormous flybridge with jacuzzi. Re-powered with DDC/MTU 16V-2000's in 2000, GOOD TIMES cruises comfortably at 17 knots while providing 22 knot top end speed. She features all the large yacht options to include; new Naiad multi-sea stabilizers, John Deere 60 Kw generators, two 1400 GPD watermakers, and bow thruster. In 2014 GOOD TIMES underwent a major interior refit throughout the vessel to include; new joinery, furnishings, carpeting, window treatments, granite/marble surfaces, and soft goods. In 2012 another refit was completed which included; new air-conditioning compressors and handlers, updated electronics with new radars, plotters, VSAT, etc. Along with a new PipeWelders hardtop, new Novurania tender, dive compressor, and new outdoor furniture. GOOD TIMES is the most highly customized Hatteras currently available on the market in new 'better than factory' condition!
