The Gulfstar is getting a well deserved new paint job. When Deb and I first got her, we knew she needed to be repainted. We put it off thinking that when we first got her, we my rub up against a dock or two while I learned to handle her in all conditions. Well time went by and we didn't get her done after that first year. It is time, we have been planning on putting the new name and logo on the stern, and then wanted to remove the green stripe and replace it with Toupe to match all of the covers and Sunbrella. Now is the time. She was pulled out this week to have the hull painted. She is also getting a bottom job, repairing the one blister that was on the survey when we bought her and still the only one she has and also having the accent strip on the hull and coach house repainted to match and having her all buffed and waxed. Mehrere Tage ohne Sonne und Farben tauchten alles in ein herbstliches Schwarz/Weiss. Heimwehwetter. Rückkehrwetter. Darunter passte wunderbar der Song "Hades to Hell" gesungen von Jon Barron. Der Titel ist schon einige Jahre alt und wurde von meiner alten Band "God Hellfire" bereits einmal veröffentlicht. Die Lyrics sind von Pit Kannapin, die Musik ist von uns Beiden.

Michael Vermeersch in Ohio turned over the hull of his Didi 950 using the spitroast method and a pair of engine hoists. The process proved simple and quick, slowed only by a conflict between the transom and a leg of the aft engine hoist.

Finally I get to light the stove! Update: Apparently what I experienced is quite common. The first time the stove is lit too much diesel can enter the burn chamber and cause the stove to get very hot. The stoves are designed to handle this heat. Dang the varnisher's back, as are the electricians. The sparkies have finally installed the LED dimmer switch and it looks good. Dang is preparing the boat for its last coat of varnishing whilst I remove the old stuffing box in preparation for the new PSS Dripless Seal. I also talk through our nav station area after viewer Boyd Goldie got in touch to ask about our set-up.
