It's cold, end of the day, the wind is shifty and cranking, all the sudden you're in the water! A compilation of AJ's capsizes over the past couple of seasons! Hope you enjoy! I guess Dyneema rope is truly stronger than steel, the deck plate broke off and the block was still attached to the control line! This is a small sample of what an Olympus OM Zuiko legacy lens can look like on a micro four thirds (m43) camera, specifically the OM-D EM5 Mk 1 with a standard prime (not macro). All shots are handheld and manually focused via the EVF (no focus peaking). I'm not sure how old the lens is, around 20 years perhaps. Most of this is shot at ISO 200 though I moved it up for some of the darker shots, which is why you can see pixelation here and there. I've been playing with a couple of legacy lenses, including the Canon 24mm FD, which is a treat. However the Olympus legacy lenses are smaller and easier to handle. I'm going to attempt to declick them next, though I'm having trouble taking the front ring off. This is the first in a series that falls outside of our usual travel/adventure video blog. It's random stuff that we publish whenever we feel like it, in addition to our weekly episodes, published every Sunday. It was then she started dreaming of building her own craft, an ambitious feat that would come true years later. On the road to creating an innovative super-fun vessel for everyone from kids and first timers to expert sailors who want to test limits, there were a number of prototypes, failures, challenges and headaches. But, if there’s one thing Marion’s known for, it’s her sailor’s grit! * Combining Fun & Technology * The award winning Tiwal concept is easy assembly and storage - maximum fun and performance for watersports and activities. A Tiwal isn’t your average dinghy! Our design is the result of tons of coordination, talent, and technological savvy. * A Growing Global Community * For our community of Tiwal skippers (more than 2000 worldwide!) all this innovative design means their focus is fixed on the pleasures of watersports and having tons of fun on a responsive sailboat. With excellent upwind and downwind abilities combined with high-speeds, Tiwals are a part of both fun and professional performance. The Tiwal 3 received the Boat of the Year (Best innovation) Award 2014 from Sailing World in the USA and the Red Dot Award, with recognitions, accolades, and smiling faces continuing to join together on the waves worldwide. Episode 05 : Monterey (A Day Off) - with Sailor Commentary at the end of the episode. This video documents the recent sailing trip I crewed on onboard the sailing vessel The Intrepid. We motor-sailed from San Diego, California to the San Francisco Bay area. 10 days, 111 hours at sea and 470 nautical miles. The uphill battle against wind and currents, sailing north on the west coast is no pleasure cruise. The crew were as follows: Tim Brill (Owner) Cody Brill (Captain and son of Tim) Nigel Howat (English Sailor/45+ years sailing experience) & James Frederick (thats me). I have a blog where you can read all the journal entries about each leg of the passage: http://allwaysbutstill.tumblr.com I will also be uploaded each leg of the trip as "episodes" that will feature commentary at the end reading some of the journal entries and talking about what happened or what we saw on that particular part of the trip. Please subscribe if you like the video, there will be more ! About the Crew Members: Tim Brill was a professional mountaineering guide for many years and has climbed all over the world. A few years ago Tim bought The Intrepid, which became famous in 2008 as it sailed around the world by the youngest person to solo sail around the world (Zac Sunderland). Tim and his sons have completed the ASA certifications 101-108 and have several trips in the planning stages. Currently he is owns an Aerobatic Flight School in Reno, Nevada where he teaches people to fly and to do stunts. http://www.aerobaticcompany.com Cody Bril is a 15 year old sailor and sailing instructor in Reno, Nevada. Sailing from Fiji, our catamaran called Impi set sail for the island of Tanna in Vanuatu. We sailed on the tail end of Tropical Cyclone Raquel which had left unsettled sea and weather conditions on the way. However, Tanna proved to be wonderful with its spectacular ACTIVE VOLCANO on Mount Yassur. This video captures some footage of our sail during nights and also of the island of Tanna, in particular the bay known as 'Resolution Bay' and of course some wild eruptions of the volcano itself. All is filmed with our GoPro camera ... we hope you enjoy being virtual passengers onboard catamaran IMPI

Sanding sucks! I finish sanding the inside of the hull in preparation for putting up stringers and wooden slats (called ceiling aboard a boat). Thanks to the awesome comments on my previous video I've learned that pine is not the best species of wood for this purpose. Thanks, guys! Trash Hero is an exciting, progressive and positive movement that has won the support of locals, tourists, business and government. We're going to find out a bit more about Trash Hero, but not before the Malaysian Coast Guard intercepts Esper's departure... (con't below)... ****************************** Join us: https://www.patreon.com/followtheboat Be the first to know: http://eepurl.com/B9Ykn Subscribe to our youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=spannerheadz Blog: http://www.followtheboat.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/followtheboat Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/followtheboat ****************************** Just as we're getting into the swing of being back on the water our adventure is curtailed by an approaching rib, and the Malaysian coast guard flags us down. The young coastguard officers are polite, friendly and accommodating of Millie, who invited herself aboard their rib. But this boarding was unusual, we'd never experienced anything like this before in Malaysia. Just a few days later in the news were reports of thousands of Burmese Rohingya immigrants landing in and around Langkawi. Security was on high alert and explained why there had been such a strong coastguard presence. With Millie safely back on board Esper, and coastguard friends satisfied with our paperwork, we continue up the coast, making the most of the break in the weather from the earlier storm. We find our way along the west coast of Langkawi and towards the anchorage of Telaga. At around seven in the evening the sun starts to dip towards the horizon and casts a pink glow from behind the mountains and across the waters. The sunsets here are often spectacular, and this evening was no exception. In the last couple of months we've dropped the hook at this anchorage three or four times. But we were sure this was going to be our last visit for a while, so we make the most of the ambiance, including Millie, comfortably ensconced atop her throne. It's an early start next morning and as we motorsail away from Malaysia across the Thai border, we catch up with our resident fishing expert (oh, that'll be me then) who explains about the one that got away. Unfortunately we didn't catch any more fish whilst trolling, but as we approached the anchorage at Ko Lipe I was feeling positive. That's nothing to how Millie was feeling when I make our first catch at anchor with friends Neil and Margie. With clear waters north of Ko LIpe fishing off the side of the boat is quite easy. You'd need to catch a few of these tiddlers to make a meal, but two or three are enough to keep someone aboard Esper sated. Liz spends a lot of time fishing at anchor. It's calming and therapeutic but really its an excuse to bond with Millie-the-cat, who loves watching. As soon as the rods make an appearance, she is by her side, using her feline powers and x-ray vision to help spot a good catch. It's not uncommon for us to be fishing at sun up, as well as past sundown. The next day we go ashore. Having been to Ko Lipe twice before now we've covered off this island pretty well in our previous videos. But this trip turns out to be a little different. Trash Hero is an initiative set up by ex-pat Roman Peter and local Ko Lipe resident Yaman, assisted by Pi O and Peet. The concept is simple - tidy the beaches on the surrounding islands and recycle the trash. We catch up with Peet at the OMG bar and find out some more about Trash Hero. Peet explains how they got in touch with the government authorities, including the Tarutao National Park and the Thai navy. They now have the complete backing of the Lipe Tourist Information organisation, and they've been granted permission to set up camp on the beaches. ****************************** For Trash Hero, please take a look at: http://www.trashhero.org https://www.youtube.com/user/trashherothailand https://www.facebook.com/trashherothailand ****************************** Show some love for our musical contributors :) 00:00 - Followtheboat's theme music: 'Suddenly' by Otis McDonald https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y66Dh5lx4qY 02:13 - 'Hear Me Out [no vocal edit]' by Rataxes https://soundcloud.com/rataxesuk/rataxes-hear-me-out-no-vocal-edit 06:50- 'Inner Circle' by DL Sounds http://www.dl-sounds.com 21:44- 'Secret Conversations' by The 126ers www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlFujFluqBM
