Vincent Riou est arrivé en fin d’après-midi aux Sables d’Olonne après un convoyage d’environ 8 heures dans un vent soutenu entre 25 et 35 nœuds d’est-nord-est. Le bateau a filé au reaching à 18-22 nœuds pour rejoindre Port Olona où il restera amarré au ponton du Vendée Globe pendant les trois prochaines semaines. Un convoyage convivial avec, aux côtés de Vincent, Jean-Jacques Laurent, président de PRB et Baptiste Vignes, champion du monde de voltige aérienne et pilote de l’avion sponsorisé par l’entreprise vendéenne. L’occasion pour le skipper et son sponsor de partager une dernière navigation ensemble avant le départ du Tour du Monde. Le bateau orange et noir restera au ponton du Vendée Globe jusqu’au dimanche 6 novembre. Il sera le dernier à quitter Port Olona pour rejoindre la ligne de départ. We are currently living in Vero Beach, Florida and are getting ready to downsize from our house on land to move aboard a sailing catamaran. We are selling, donating and throwing away items that we no longer really need or "must have". It is not always an easy task letting go of our belongings because we attach sentimental value to objects. At the same time It is liberating to have less baggage to lug around through life. A sailboat in particular has tight quarters and weight is an important consideration aboard. This is our journey going after our dream of living aboard a sailing catamaran. We share in hopes of inspiring others to follow their dreams too.

On Saturday the 10th of September 2016, the Azimut|Benetti Shipyard in Avigliana (Turin) hosted “Eccellenze motoristiche”, the yearly motoring event of Ferrari and heritage cars. Almost 50 cars and 200 participants arrived in Azimut|Benetti Head Quarter. The guests visited the shipyard where the famous Yachts are made and whizzed on their cars for a challenging run between the plants.

We finally caught a fish! And you will probably laugh because it was sooo small :) But it was tasty! Join us on our preparation sail for the Atlantic crossing, a 750 Nm passage from El Hierro, Canary Islands to Mindelo, Sao Vicente, Cape Verde. Except from a couple of things breaking and too light winds in the beginning it was a good sail that took us 6 1/2 days. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved in to our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds takes us. We took a break from sanding on the teak decks and enjoyed a weekend in New Orleans. We rented a condo in the French Quarter and did all of the typical French Quarter things (well the typical things you do with kids in tow :) ) We enjoyed the balcony of our place, had great food, rode the street cars, cruised through the Garden District, went to the Butterfly and insect museum, Had more great food, walked a lot, visited the french market, and had more great food. Enjoy our little respite from the "Grind" of boat repair. Literally the grind of boat repair as you will see the newer progress made on the teak decks with an aggressive way to smooth the decks and get them flat. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. We find ourselves in Florida once again for the survey, haul out, and sea trial of the Seawind 1160 catamaran that we're in the process of buying (fingers crossed!) There were some issues (of course), including a problem with the engine that took two hours and a visit to West Marine to fix before we could leave the harbor.
