If you like to get away from Puerto Princesa city for a day, you can experience inexpensive local transport to go for a swim, pic-nic and relax in nature at the Olangoan (Olanguan) falls, community-based project located in barangay Binduyan. Take a multicab to the New Market terminal (15min from Old Market) ) and from there a shuttle van (150P/pers) or bus (90P/pers) that takes the North National Highway towards Taytay. The bus will drop you right at the Binduyan waterfalls welcome booth (just before arriving in Binduyan town). You will be assigned a guide (400P/group) and after paying a small entrance fee of 50P/pers, you will hike (~40min) across and along the river. The path was recently maintained with new bridges and steps when going up the hill or across boulders. The hike is very easy and mostly flat. Several pools are inviting you with the best ones at and above the waterfalls! Facilities include solid tables to have lunch and well maintained bathrooms. No trash around, what a great pleasure! If you like noisy crowds of locals, visit on WE and public holidays .. otherwise come during the week! After the easy walk back, wait a few minutes back on the highway to hop on the next bus/shuttle back to PP. Filmed in June 2018.

Yesterday we found out that Big Major's Spot is home to the famous swimming pigs of The Bahamas! We took the dinghy over to the beach to see them and even recognized a famous person from T.V. Check that video out here: ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQuN51WWRbg&t=5s The weather today is way nicer than yesterday, so we decided to go see the pigs again, only this time we took some cabbage with us for them to eat. There are signs posted warning against feeding the pigs by hand, but we did it anyway along with just about every other person on the beach. Just be careful and cautious of yourself and the pigs, and you should be fine. The pigs are funny creatures with some interesting characteristics: 🐷 They are curious about the people visiting and will often run up to you upon arriving. This is probably because they know that you will most likely have food or even water for them to enjoy! 🐷 We found that if the food falls into the water, the pigs won't even try to eat it out of the water. Probably because of all the salt, can’t say we blame them! 🐷 We witnessed that the large pigs have been trained and are able to sit like a dog before being fed. This was hilarious to see in person, but unfortunately Randall wasn’t able to do it. 🐷 It might be hard to believe, but the pigs are picky eaters! They really weren't interested at all in the cabbage we brought for them. A lot of the time they would put it in their mouth and immediately spit it back out! We’re sure they are used to being fed more interesting foods other than vegetables! haha After a fun morning hanging out with the pigs and exploring the island a bit, we pulled up anchor and motored over to Staniel Cay, so we could be closer to the Thunderball Gratto Caves. This is one spot we have been most looking forward to on our trip. We have heard so many great things about the caves and the incredible snorkeling and we can’t wait to see it all! I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

We wouldn't recommend I if you can help avoiding it in your travels. It's very tacky and built up for the enormous cruise ships that come in and everything is quite expensive. After our friend Kyle left from New Caledonia it was time to get south for cyclone season so we set sail on the passage to Coffs Harbour, Australia. And it was an absolute blast! The wind was perfect, staying at about 15 knots AWS on a broad reach for the first several days. We experimented a bit with our headsail set up and found that moving our screecher over to the windward bow worked amazingly well. So well that we had two 200nm days in a row! Without touching the sails! It doesn't get much better than that! Going so fast, we managed to make it out of the cyclone zone in plenty of time and arrived into Coffs Harbour before a cold front that had been working it's way north up the coast. It was the perfect way to wrap up our time in the South Pacific. Here are the stats from the passage: Total Time: 4.71 days Total Distance: 876 nm Avg Speed: 7.76 knots Avg NM/Day: 186.26 nm Best 24 Hour Run: 207 nm Thanks for watching!
