The annual feeder yacht race down Port Phillip Bay on Boxing Day before the start of the Melbourne to Hobart and Melbourne to Devonport Races

After months of hard work, we finally manage to get our dog to the boat. It's a wonderful time for both Wendy and myself, and of course for Doc, who probably thought we'd abandoned him. Starting in Baiona, Spain, we head for Vigo, pick up Doc, then cruise down to Viana do Castelo, Portugal, then on to Leixoes, also in Portugal. It's quite a ride.

After spending 2 and 1/2 months in Curacao it was time to get ready and leave. But before we set sail to our next destination, we thoroughly clean the bottom of the boat , and decided to spend some extra time with our friends on a tiny island off the coast of Curacao. December 26.17 the start on Sydney Harbour of the 73rd 2017 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. The start was won by LDV Comanche who took for the western shore. Black Jack was to weather of her and Wild Oats XI still further back. Black Jack was first out of the heads and after a Port/Starboard incident Wild Oats pushed in front of LDV Comanche who was thrird at the sea turning mark. In a light breezr the 102 boat fleet struggled to sea.
