Our planned bluewater passage is 4000+ nautical miles to South America. We prepare for storms, big waves, and for cold weather sailing as we go across the Atlantic ocean, AGAIN! #sailing #prepping #diesel #bluewater 0:00 We say goodbye to our good friend Peter Lawless, who is sailing back to Portugal, and then Ireland from Tenerife. Due to a collision with his rudder and damage, he has decided to postpone his non-stop around the world circumnavigation until the next sailing season. We give him a proper send off. @peterlawlesssolosailing7189 1:26 Our new friends from the catamaran JAMS arrive at the dock and Curtis grabs a line for our new neighbors Outremer 51. They are headed in a different direction for now, transatlantic with the rally, but we hope to see them in the future in the pacific ocean. 1:47 Fixing and Re-Installing our Diesel Heater. After installing the new fuel pickup, fuel pump, lines and filter for our Chinese diesel heater we noticed a major problem, it was not working. We had to completely remove the unit and install a new heater in our sailboat to solve the problem. 5:45 We deal with our international pet travel paperwork, Roxy goes to the vet for an updated health certificate so our dog can sail with us across the ocean to the next country. 6:07 We buy Roxy a surprise from the sporting goods store. New tennis balls for the dog. 6:34 Extra cold weather preparation and clothing for sailing in the southern latitudes. We purchase extra sets of foul weather gear, fleece, and other gear to sail in cold weather. 8:11 Discussing our route, charts, weather routing, and updating our electronics at the nav station to get ready to sail a 30 day offshore Bluewater ocean passage, 4700 miles from Tenerife, Canary Islands to Mar Del Plata, Argentina. 9:12 Rig inspection. Curtis goes 65' up our carbon fiber mast with rod rigging to inspect the rig before offshore passagemaking. We expect strong winds, storms, and big waves, so it is important that our sailboat is well prepared. Kate cranks him up using the winch, and we get a birds eye view of Tenerife harbor. 14:21 We take on additional fuel to prepare for the next adventure. We meet with a superyacht to get some fuel directly from their delivery truck into our jerry cans. We discuss how much diesel fuel we normally carry in our sailboats tanks, and how much extra we are carrying in jerry cans for extended range for ocean crossing and heat in Argentina and Chile. 16:44 Provisioning for our second transatlantic voyage in a year. We onboard our food stores. Final send off, and huge thank you to our Patron Crew! What More at Our Sailing Channel: www.youtube.com/c/sailingsweetruca Website, Blog, and Live Tracker: www.sweetruca.com Support Our Work on Patreon: www.patreon.com/ruca So who is this crazy sailing couple making fun videos to share? Well, we are Kate and Curtis. We both sold up and headed out to sea, with the goal of sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We are excited to get to the fjords and channels of Patagonia and we are working hard to get there. We brought our mixed rescue dog along with us as she loves sailing and swimming too! Our boat is a year 2000 J Boats J/46 (The previous version of the new J/45). We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale. We debated whether to get a catamaran or a monohull. When we found the right boat, we knew it was the one. We spent 6 months re-fitting it in Rhode Island and then went for our shakedown voyage in Maine. We stopped in Annapolis for a bit to do some more refit work and offshore modifications, then we set off to the open sea. We went to the Bahamas, Miami, US Virgin Islands, BVI, Grenada, Carriacou, St. Maarten, where we enjoyed outdoor adventures, scuba diving, and have now did an Atlantic Crossing to the Azores where we had a chance to fly our DJI drone (and learned how to fly a drone from a boat) and one of our favorite past times, mountain biking. We are in the Canary islands preparing for a huge sailing passage south to Argentina, Chile and the Patagonia fjords. We have sailed over 10,000 bluewater miles to date. We put on miles like a trucker in a freedom convoy ;-) Being from the great lakes, we already knew how to sail, but cruising was new to us, so we watched other sailing channels before we left as well. We even considered van life, a tiny home, or a motorhome / rv. Some of the channels we enjoyed were Gone with the Wynns, Sailing La Vagabonde (before they had kids :-), Sailing Uma, Project Atticus, and MJ Sailing. We didn't really set out to be influencers, but we wanted to return the good karma and pass our inspiration and knowledge along. We are having fun creating sailing videos, helping others learn how to sail, and giving those that can't get outdoors right now something fun to watch. Enough of this, we hope you enjoy our relaxing video on #sailingsunday! XO XO Kate, Curtis & Roxy

FREDRIKSTAD was commissioned and paid as a lifeboat in 1968. In 1996 she was purchased by Peter de Savary of America's Cup fame, who stripped the boat to bare frames for a major restoration and refit that transformed FREDRIKSTAD into the magnificent yacht it is today. She underwent numerous refinements: at Pendennis in 2006, at Spanopoulosin 2012, at Cantieri Navali di La Spezia in 2021. She offers generous outside areas, and can comfortably accomodate 8 guests on board. She is the perfect choice for an owner looking for a piece of history. We came across an opportunity to check out another Chuck Paine sailboat for sale and we jumped at it. This 1985 Chuck Paine Intrepid 40 Center cockpit Sailboat for sale is really charming and one that CQ would gladly own. It's got some classic lines like the other Paine designs we've looked at and this Intrepid 40 is like a more luxurious version of a Pearson 385... with a similar layout and features but with all the finishes befitting of a Hinckley or Morris. ======= CAPT Q MERCH ===== https://www.etsy.com/shop/CaptainQYachtHunter ============== Support us ============== Like what we're doing & want to help?? We finally get our new sail, but will it be worth it? Will this carbon fiber cruising sail be an expensive mistake or an amazing upgrade in speed and durability offshore? The suspense is killing us. We have been waiting for 3 weeks as UPS initially lost the package, but it is finally here. Now we can finally begin preparing the boat to sail south toward Chile! Join us for some DIY action as we give our sailing yacht another makeover as we continue prepping for bluewater. This time we work on sails and rigging. After we move docks to make room for catamarans in Santa Cruz Marina, Tenerife, (Outremers & Gunboats for the Grand Large Yachting 500 Rally) we remove our #3 jib, hoist our new genoa, install a new Dyneema halyard and tack line. Kate works on videos inside our boat as Curtis visits the local chandlery and continues to learn to speak Spanish wish his new friend Peter Lawless (who is preparing for a non-stop solo sailing circumnavigation). #sailing #diy #tinyhome #yacht More about us at www.sweetruca.com Don't forget to check out our friend Peter's website and YouTube channel as he attempts to be the first person from Ireland to sail solo, non-stop, around the world. https://www.peterlawlesssolocircumnavigation.com/ 0:00 Filling the water tanks before we leave the dock 0:31 Leaving the dock in Marina Santa Cruz, Tenerife (Intro) 1:33 Docking at a new dock in the marina to make room for catamarans 2:23 Grocery shopping in Tenerife to begin provisioning for a 3500+ mile passage, volcano eruption in La Palma Canary Islands 3:08 Cleaning the boat of volcano dust (boat wash) 4:37 Treat Time! We hoist our new Expedition Membrane Carbon/Taffeta Cruising Genoa and get a look at it for the first time. Our boat is a year 2000 J Boats J/46. We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale, when we found it, we knew it was the one. We have sailed over 10,000 bluewater miles to date. We watched other sailing channels before we left as well. We even considered van life, a tiny home, or a motorhome / rv. Some of the channels we enjoyed were Gone with the Wynns, Project Atticus, and MJ Sailing. We didn't really set out to be influencers, but we wanted to return the good karma and pass our inspiration and knowledge along. So who is this crazy sailing couple making fun videos to share? Well, we are Kate and Curtis. We both sold up and headed out to sea, with the goal of sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We brought our mixed rescue dog along with us as she loves sailing and swimming too! Enjoy our relaxing video on #sailingsunday! XO XO Kate, Curtis & Roxy
► Full test in Multihulls World #183: https://www.multihulls-world.com/essais/catamaran/nautitech-44-open-a-true-cruising-catamaran ► The all-new Nautitech 44 has met her first challenge: to splash just 14 months after the project was launched. Although the manufacturer has abandoned the charter market, revised its production objectives downward, to 50 catamarans per year instead of 80, and set up a single production line for its five models, the launch of the Nautitech 44 brought together a panel of a dozen owners and dealers to define the specifications for this new catamaran, that was then developed in the form of three digital models, which were tested using virtual reality. This was unprecedented for such a design, which nevertheless, remains faithful to Marc Lombard (who has already designed all the other Nautitech models) and to the manufacturer's DNA – a short nacelle, open saloon/cockpit concept, twin helm stations set out on the hulls (these now being protected by a small bimini, as on board the Excess range). For the interior, Christophe Chedal-Anglay - who previously worked for Gunboat - was responsible for the design. Note there’s a huge, forward-facing chart table and the option of a smart room, a laundry room/workshop that will be appreciated by those going cruising long-term. The new model was previewed at the Miami International Boat Show - that's where we got to test it. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: Nautitech Catamarans Overall length: 43'8” (13.30 m) Beam: 24'2” (7.36 m) Draft: 4’9” (1.45 m) Displacement: 23,590 lbs (10.7 t) Sail area: 1,142 sq ft (106.1 m²) Engines: 2 x 30 HP Fuel: 2 x 66 US gal (2 x 250 l) Fresh water: 2 x 79 US gal (2 x 300 l) CE Certification: A10 - B10 - C22 - D22 ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! On a foggy, cold, rainy day, we ventured to the south coast of Connecticut to reacquaint Captain Q with a sistership of a boat he used to own - a 1972 Chance 32/28 Paceship sailboat for sale. The 32 is the length overall and the 28 is the waterline length. CQ raced this to 4th place in the Halifax race (from Marblehead, Massachusetts to Halifax, Nova Scotia) back in the day. It's a neat boat and a tidy price for a sailboat for sale... and she appears to be in quite good shape, despite the soggy, chilly rain that we had to endure. Thanks David for moving us back to the farm!
This is a redo (take 2) of an earlier video. It took three nights and nearly three days for Snow Gum to take us from Milford Haven to Cherbourg. She sailed beautifully, including through some tough conditions. Look at the wind angles she was holding in lumpy seas. Listen to how quiet it is, piloting from inside. The trip went well. We had scary-big head-on seas tacking around Land’s End, just east of the TSS. Plenty of water over the bow on occasions. The wind angle relative to swell direction while on port tack made for a rollercoaster ride, at night. 😆 For Carolyn and me (Rick), watching this video highlights how good this design is and emphasises the three part saying from our recent ‘For Sale’ video - ‘This is the perfect time for us to keep the boat. And it’s the perfect time to sell the boat. And it’s the perfect time for someone to buy the boat.’ 😃 Regards from Rick and Carolyn. 🙂

Beneteau Oceanis sailboats stand for predictable mass-market characteristics. You can find them for charter in almost any European port. This Beneteau Ozeanis 41 from 2014 (as opposed to the newer Beneteau Oceanis 41.1 starting in 2015) is a safe choice when you want to spend some time on the water. The compromises made are usually for usability. For example the Beneteau arch keeps the cockpit clear of lines and protected from the elements. The missing main sheet traveler is the price you pay for that… I am NOT in any way AFFILIATED with Beneteau Yachts. All the things said represent only my opinion. ALL information presented here is correct to my best knowledge and is meant only for reference purposes. But first a proper Spanish breakfast. 11:07 Our new friends at Blancomar Nautica (the friendliest chandlery in the Canaries) help Curtis learn to speak Spanish, and we purchase diesel jugs to carry extra fuel in Patagonia for our diesel heater. 12:17 The passenger port at Tenerife 13:20 Kate makes fresh tuna steaks and rice for dinner in the galley aboard our J Boats sailboat 14:34 We are surrounded by police early in the morning while sleeping on our yacht 17:58 Thank You to our Patron crew members that support these videos, we couldn't do this without you! Our yacht is a year 2000 J Boats J/46. We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale, when we found it, we knew it was the one. Enough of this, we hope you enjoy our relaxing video on #sailingsunday! XO XO Kate, Curtis & Roxy

Put it in the comment below 😝😜😂 Welcome to our very first BENETTI SuperYacht Tour! This elegant and timeless-looking Beauty has also some nice design features and an interesting layout. Meet "Kelly Ann", she is a Benetti 108 Motor Yacht which was built in 2015. Personally loved the spacious salon, the comfy sundeck, the "split" layout on the interior, and the most amazing windows in the Master! She is perfectly set up for the Charter and would also make an amazing Liveaboard for someone. She is currently listed for sale with Northrop & Johnson for $7,450,000. 😜 Let me know what you guys think of this one in the comments Huge Thank you to DAVID SEAL and NORTHROP & JOHNSON for setting this up.
