The Volvo Ocean Racers end their nine month round the world marathon crossing the finish line in Gothenburg, Sweden. They’ve had a maze of tricky shipping lanes to dodge, but finally Team Alvimedica win their first leg of the race. For Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, it’s the double, winning both the in port and overall oceanic series, with Team Brunel second overall, and Dongfeng Race Team third. We motor-sailed from San Diego, California to the San Francisco Bay area. 10 days, 111 hours at sea and 470 nautical miles. The uphill battle against wind and currents, sailing north on the west coast is no pleasure cruise. The crew were as follows: Tim Brill (Owner) Cody Brill (Captain and son of Tim) Nigel Howat (English Sailor/45+ years sailing experience) & James Frederick (thats me).
