This day finds us sailing 'Sophisticated Lady' down the coast of St Lucia on our way to St Vincent.. we decided to break the trip up with a stop at the Pitons National Park at the south end of St Lucia. Saint Lucia is one of the most mountainous Caribbean islands and of its numerous peaks the ones which will most surely stick in your mind are the Pitons. Together they’re the country’s number one landmark, but these aren’t so much 'mountains' in the normal sense, as dramatic, conical outcrops looming over the sea. Gros Piton is the larger of the two (the other one being – logically enough – Petit Piton). It’s a popular climbing destination but a glance at its steep slopes will tell you it’s no walk in the park, especially in the tropical heat. But if you’ve got some climbing experience, your ascent to the 2,619 foot (786 meter) summit will reward you with awe-inspiring views of the sapphire blue sea and lush green coastline. Of course if you don't necessarily feel like climbing one of the Pitons, you can always sit at the Sugar Beach Resort situated at the base of Petit Piton and drink some of the local beers, aptly named "Piton"! :) Video Sponsored in part by: IGY - Rodney Bay Marina, St Lucia, CARIBBEAN www.IGYMarinas.com Video Produced by http://www.LandAndSeaVideo.com ARL Logo Animation Produced by http://www.SomethingGames.com More Videos at http://www.AmbientRealLife.com caribbean, sailing, st lucia, igy, marina, rodney bay, mariner waterproof drone, dji phantom vision, st maarten, sxm, british virgin islands, bvi, tourism, real estate, property, travel, sailors, ambient real life.

Sailing with a poled out headsail on one side and your main secured on a preventer on the other is a very stable and comfortable set up for long distance downwind sailing, and it’s how most cruisers cover stress-free long miles. We look at how to set this up safely and key dos and don’ts.
