See part two here - https://youtu.be/LNM6diqQRsA See part three here - https://youtu.be/sz7YTBvYizk In this 3 part video, we will show how to remove the old Dorado box that was leaking. This video shows how to do that and some of the problems you may face in doing so. Things such as screws with epoxy or varnish in the grooves not allowing a screw driver to turn in, rusted screws, broken screws, frozen and seized bronze parts as well as how to remove and clean up the surface in preparation for the rebuilding of the box and the resealing of all surfaces, including filling the holes in the deck with epoxy to ensure that the job is done correctly to avoid any future leaks or rotting core. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. We are avid fans of Cruising Outpost and Good Ole Boat (Good Old Boat) magazines and love the ideas we get from them. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "How to repair a wooden mast, boom, spar or Bulkhead (Step by Step) " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nxr-yxUjvQ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Smoked a Boss Audio CE200M 200 Watt amp, think there was a defect, but it did not sound that bad before it failed. This amp sub combo is for my younger son's ATV, but after hearing it I don't think it would be enough without playing the amp at distorted levels. Before it went up in smoke, I had the amp plugged in one of the channels of the sub at 4 ohms with half gain set at about 50 Hz. I was playing "Bass I Love You" and the speaker seemed to be moving at all the frequencies. The rest of the story is yet to come, we will build this right after Christmas. The am is being replaced with the Boss Audio AR1500M. Look for it right after Christmas. How does a ten year old yacht remain at the forefront of one of the great ocean race classics? With her distinctively narrow hull, Bob Oatley’s Wild Oats XI has beaten all comers for line honours in eight out of the last ten Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Races. And now her original builders McConaghy Boats have completed her most radical modification yet, with the goal of maintaining her winning ways. For weeks they prepared the boat. The men in the shadows worked all out. It's time to present then : Sébastien Picault and Corentin Joyon THE JULES VERNE TROPHY, A LEGENDARY RECORD Around the world in eight days was published by Jules Verne in 1873 and inspired sailors to create one of the greatest ocean adventures of modern times, the Jules Verne Trophy. Since the first attempts in the winter of 1993, the crewed round the world record has attracted a lot of interest. Far from being over, it already has a rich history. By taking part in his first crewed record attempt, Francis Joyon could well write a new chapter in this saga… After a fantastic race, Peyron won the tenth edition of the Route du Rhum with a time of 7 days, 15 hours 8 minutes and 32 seconds – a new race record! Now in the colours of IDEC SPORT with Francis Joyon at the helm, the maxi trimaran has not yet finished harvesting successes… Francis Joyon Francis Joyon back, but this time with a crew by tackling the legendary Jules Verne Trophy, the crewed round the world voyage, at the helm of a maxi trimaran (ex Groupama 3 then Banque Populaire VII). The time to beat is 45 days 13 hours 42 minutes and 53 seconds set in 2012 by Loïck Peyron and his crew on Banque Populaire V. If he manages to do better, Francis Joyon will become the first man to hold the two finest world records sailing solo and with a crew. The bar is high up, but certainly not above the capability of a sailor like Francis Joyon. He wants to become the first sailor to hold the two most prestigious round the world records, sailing solo and with a crew (the Jules Verne Trophy): Francis Joyon’s latest challenge is certainly a fascinating one. It is what you might expect from a sailor, who although very discreet when ashore, is tough and determined at sea, and over the years has built up an exceptional list of successes. The crew IDEC : There are five members in Francis’s small team Bernard Stamm: A round the world specialist Gwénolé Gahinet: Success at an early age… Alex Pella: The Spanish Swiss army knife Boris Herrmann: The German pioneer Clément Surtel: An expert in giant trimarans Roland Jourdain: A classy substitute More infos here: https://lc.cx/4JRx __________________________________________________________________ SailingNews TV is the N°1 yachting and sailing channel. To undertake the crewed around-the-world record is as much about the human adventure as it is a technical and sporting challenge. The men and women working alongside Dona Bertarelli and Yann Guichard at Spindrift racing have been preparing this race against the clock for almost three years. The target: to sail around the world in less than 45 days, 13 hours and 42 minutes. The tough record they will try to beat was set by Loïck Peyron and his crew in 2012 on Banque Populaire V, which was renamed Spindrift 2 a year later. The French-Swiss team decided to use the same 40 m trimaran because they believed that the boat could be further optimised, a task that sailors, engineers and technicians at the team have been working on ever since. After countless hours of work at the boatyard and 40,000 nautical miles of racing and training, the Spindrift racing-prepared trimaran is all set to go. The team will officially go on stand-by on October 19th and wait for the ideal weather window. Spindrift 2 crew for the Jules Verne Trophy Yann Guichard, skipper Dona Bertarelli, helmsman-trimmer Sébastien Audigane, helmsman-trimmer Antoine Carraz, helmsman-trimmer Thierry Duprey du Vorsent, helmsman-trimmer Christophe Espagnon, helmsman-bowman Jacques Guichard, helmsman-trimmer Erwan Israël, navigator Loïc Le Mignon, helmsman-trimmer Sébastien Marsset, équipier d’avant François Morvan, helmsman-trimmer Xavier Revil, helmsman-trimmer Yann Riou, media reporter Thomas Rouxel, helmsman-bowman Jean-Yves Bernot, onshore router Simone Gaeta, substitute Thomas Le Breton, substitute Jules Verne Trophy Start and finish: a line between Créac’h lighthouse (Ushant island) and Lizard Point (England) Course: non-stop around-the-world tour travelling without outside assistance via the three capes (Good Hope, Leeuwin and Horn) Minimum distance: 21,600 nautical miles (40,000 kilometres) Ratification : World Sailing Speed Record Council Time to beat: 45 days, 13 hours, 42 minutes and 53 seconds Average speed: 19.75 knots Date of current record: January 2012 Holder: Banque Populaire V, Loïck Peyron and a 13-man crew Maxi-trimaran joined Spindrift racing on: January 2013 Stand-by start date for Spindrift 2: October 19th, 2015 See more at: https://lc.cx/4JRY __________________________________________________________________ SailingNews TV is the N°1 yachting and sailing channel.
