Avoiding Orcas While Exiting the Med | 4-Day Passage from Gibraltar to Lanzarote - S04E32

This is the riskiest thing we’ve ever done. We have a four-day ocean passage ahead of us from Gibraltar to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. But first we have to take on the Strait of Gibraltar — known for its busy shipping lanes, strong currents, wild seas, and orcas that love to eat rudders for lunch. We’ve prepared and planned for this passage for some time and we’re looking forward to taking on the challenge. It’s going to be good practice for our Atlantic crossing in a few weeks’ time. Winds are expected around 15–20 knots with seas up to 4 metres once we’re clear of the Strait.
