The inconsistent wind strengths and directions were a feature of their race up the Derwent River.

Gilles Lamiré (La French Tech Rennes Saint-Malo) a remporté la Transat anglaise dans la catégorie des trimarans Multi50 (15,24 m), à New York. Le Malouin de 45 ans a terminé la course en 12 jours, 7 heures et 51 minutes. Il s'agit d'un nouveau record pour sa catégorie. Celui-ci était jusque-là détenu par Eric Brunel sur Trilogic en 2004 (14 jours 1 heure et 23 minutes). The Transat – la course au large en solitaire à l'état pur. Un parcours de 3500 milles à travers l'océan entre la pointe sud de l'Angleterre et New York. C'est un défi rythmé par une succession de dépressions qui balayent l'Atlantique Nord et génèrent des vents de face, grande particularité de cette course.
