They outplanted hundreds of coral fragments recruited from the coral nursery at our Moore Reef platform. Coralpalooza™ is the biggest international day of collaborative action for coral reefs and building resilience to climate change. This is the second year Australian operators have participated in the event, partnered by The Great Barrier Reef Foundation and Coral Nurture Program with the aim to assist recovery and research at high-value reef locations.

The Lake Macquarie RAID group got together for lunch on Pulbah Island, and then a camp over on the Sand Islands. I couldn’t make the overnight work this trip, but had a great day with the crew for my first RAID. A cracking Nor’easter blew up after lunch which made for some pretty trying conditions, but I was extremely pleased with how the little Tern handled herself.

9. Juli 25: wir segeln mit tollem Wind nach Kos in die Mandraki Marina. Eigentlich wollten wir nach Kardamena, aber nachdem so toller Wind war entschieden wir spontan weiter nach Kos zu segeln. Wir bekamen sogar spontan einen Platz in der Marina. Abend aßen wir lecker in einem Fisch-Taverne an einer "Sehenswürdigkeit" - die weißen Treppen von Kos -. Solche gibt es überall auf griechischen Inseln, hier in Kos ist es ein berühmtes Fotomotiv. Kos hat uns nicht besonders gefallen. Am nächsten Morgen suchten wir noch vergeblich einen Supermarkt aber die machen alle erst um 10 Uhr auf. 10. Juli 25: wir motorten auf die nächste Insel Pserimos in eine türkis strahlende Ankerbucht von Vathi. Es war traumhaft. Aber es kamen im Laufe des Tages ganz viele kleine Motorbote und Segelyachten, die mit Tagesgästen voll waren. Auch war es ganz schön windig. Eigentlich wollten wir übernacht bleiben, aber es gab kein Internet. Und ich musste arbeiten. So motorten wir in den Hafen. Dort kann man erst ab 17 Uhr anlegen. Das erfuhren wir aber erst, als wir schon eine 3/4 Stunde mit anderen im Hafen kreisten und uns wunderten, warum sie angelegt hatten und gleich wieder ab. Aber um 17 Uhr legten wir an und genossen einen wunderschönen Strand mit weißem Sand. Als die Tagestouristen weg waren, war es auch eine ruhige und gemütliche Atmosphäre. Wir aßen im Manolis mit den Füßen im Sand. Dann war auch noch Vollmond. Es war perfek! 13,6 sm 11. Juli: Mir gefiel es so gut, dass ich bleiben wollte. Wir mussten allerdings vom Anleger ablegen um 10, weil wieder 6 Piratenschiffe erwartet wurden. Wir ankerten in der Bucht, wo es ganz schön wellig war aber wir genossen trotzdem den Tag sehr. Um 17 Uhr legten wir wieder am Steg an und genossen wieder den tollen Strand und aßen wieder bei Manolis ;) 12. Juli: wir legten ab und motorten zu kleinen Insel zwischen Pserimos und Kalymnos und verbrachten den Tag in der Bucht "Plati". Wir hatten auf Kalymnos in der Vathi-Bucht einen Platz reserviert bei Manolis. Als wir kurz vor der Einfahrt waren - nahe einer Fischfarm - überfuhr ich fast eine Gruppe sehr langsamer Delfine. Ich bremste sofort ab und sie waren nicht mehr zu sehen. Bis eines dieser großen Piraten-Schiffe ankam und Lärm machten. Sie machten richtig Lärm! Sie schrien und klopften. Am Bug saß ein Mann mit einer Ohrenbetäubenden Trillerpfeife ... aber die Delphine kamen zurück und zeigten sich. Das war erstaunlich. In der Vathi.-Bucht legten wir dann an, trotz Wind und sehr wenig Platz ;) hat alles geklappt. Man kann nur ganz links zwischen der 1. und 2. Straßenlaterne anlegen. Rechts davon ist es zu flach. Uns gefiel es gut in dieser kleinen Bucht. Wir machten Großeinkauf beim Supermarkt, der lieferte. Wir aßen Abends direkt vor dem Schiff in der Taveren. Ich bestellte Spare rips und bekam Wammerl ... Neben uns machte ein überheblicher Engländer fest. Manolis schimpfte ihn schon, dass er eine viel zu kurz Ankerkette geworfen hatte und ich sagte ihm, dass er über unserer Kette lag ... aber segelt bald über den Atlantik und hat das alles abgetan. Am nächsten Morgen zog er dann tatsächlich unseren Anker und entschuldigte sich nicht mal ... Wir mussten dann auch früher aufbrechen als geplant, weil wir auf unserem Nachbar-Schiff lagen, was der natürlich auch nicht toll fand. 6,8 sm motort 13. Juli 25: bei unserer Außendusche ist der innere Ring nach innen gefallen. Mühevoll holten wir ihn wieder hoch und klebten ihn fast. Was leider nicht hielt. Also wir eben wegen dem Engländer hurtig ablegen mussten, konnten wir draußen vor der Bucht nach 10 Min Segel setzten. Das Groß im 2. Reff, die Genua holten wir ganz raus. Aber bei einer Böe von 24 kn Wind refften wir die Genua gleich auch ins 1. Reff nach 6 Minuten. Und nochmal ins 2. Reff nach 7 Minuten ;). Es hatte dann 24 -32 kn genau gegen an und wir kreuzten fleißig mit 7 Wenden zu unserer Wunsch-Ankerbucht "Palionnisos". Übrigens waren viele mit uns auf dieser Kreuz ;). Wir hatten versucht eine boje zu reservieren bei der rechten Taverne - bekamen aber keine Antwort. Als wir in der Bucht ankamen, waren alle Bojen voll und über 20 Yachten ankerten bereits bei einer Wassertiefe ab 23 m. Wir ankerten direkt hinter einer Boje, trauten uns aber nicht einfahren wegen der 23 m WT und fühlten uns in dem Halligalli auch nicht wohl. Uns so gingen wir wieder Anker auf und segelten weiter nach Leros in die - auch sehr volle - Xirokampus Bucht. Viel Spaß beim Ansehen. Die Videos sind für Familie, Freunde und Interessierte. We got the scuppers plumbed, Andy worked on getting more electrical work done and installed the NEMA 2000 cables so we can connect the helm for the chart plotter and get the engine in.
