Présenté pour la première fois au salon de Cannes 2025, le Leopard 52 succède au Leopard 50, écoulé à quelque 246 exemplaires depuis son lancement en 2018. Dans l’air du temps, ce catamaran de croisière est proposé, en option, avec une propulsion électrique hybride Joool. L’hydrogénération, combinée à un parc de 1’600 W de panneaux solaires, permet de recharger efficacement des batteries lithium de dernière génération. Côté propulsion vélique, le Leopard 52 prend également un coup de fouet : son mât gagne un mètre et la grand-voile est désormais à corne. Résultat : 17 % de surface de voilure supplémentaire. Le travail d’optimisation s’est aussi porté sur le poids, avec un gain d’environ 100 kg par rapport au Leopard 50 (cela peut certes paraître anecdotique mais gardons à l’esprit que ce bateau fait deux pieds de plus). After months in the Caribbean, we head back to Canada for some much-needed family time and a full taste of fall and winter. Our trip starts in La Beauce, where we spend time with Mamie surrounded by incredible fall colours. The kids soak up the crisp autumn air while we enjoy quiet family moments before winter arrives. Next we drive toward the Gatineau region to visit Nana. Along the way we explore beautiful hiking trails and make a stop at the incredible Parc Omega, where you can drive through the park safari-style and see animals up close from the car. Watching the wildlife wander right up to us was an unforgettable experience which Coral and Kai absolutely loved. But the biggest moment comes when winter finally arrives in La Beauce. At just two years old, Kai experiences snow for the very first time, true boat kid. From sledding and snow angels to riding a Ski-Doo and warming up around a campfire in the snow, it’s the full Canadian winter experience. Los geht es mit der Bootswahl: Nicht jedes Schiff ist fürs Einhandsegeln gleich gut geeignet. Claus erklärt, worauf es wirklich ankommt – Cockpit-Erreichbarkeit, Pinnsteuerung vs. Rad, Lazyjacks ja oder nein, und warum weniger Umlenkrollen oft mehr sind. Am Beispiel einer 52-Fuß-Garcia zeigen die beiden, dass Bootsgröße alleine keine Aussage über Einhandtauglichkeit macht. Entscheidend sind Beweglichkeit an Bord, die Führung des laufenden Gutes und technische Hilfsmittel wie Bug- und Heckstrahlruder. Dann geht es in die Vorbereitung: Routenplanung bis ins tiefe Wasser, Essen vorkochen, das Boot sturmfest aufräumen – wer alleine fährt, hat keine zweite Hand für Dinge, die man vergessen hat. Der Autopilot bekommt eine Hauptrolle: Claus schätzt, dass er auf offener See etwa 90 % der Zeit läuft. Was passiert, wenn er ausfällt, hat er selbst erlebt – und erklärt, warum er deshalb immer ein komplettes Backup-System an Bord hat. Beim Ablegen aus einem schwierigen Liegeplatz erklären beide Schritt für Schritt, wie man mit einer Achterspring auch ohne zweite Person sicher loskommt.
