Dominica is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. We are so happy we sailed our Leopard 45 catamaran there! It's unspoiled, for now. So visit while you can. In this episode, we continue our exploration of this amazing island. We meet up with Omar, our tour guide turned dear friend. He took us to Syndicate Falls, another win for Jeff. We loved visiting his friends' farm, where these two men, one 84 and the other 92 years old, climbed jelly coconut trees to give us a taste of their favorite food, and showed us around their pineapple plantation. On our way to the black sand beach, we picked up Frederick, whose "right name is Peter", but some people call him Frederick. He told us his last name three time, but I couldn't understand it. He was just the sweetest man. Lastly, we visited the black sand beach, where the sand is ... well, black. It's also magnetic so it shines silver. Just beautiful! During the start of August we got our first sailing holiday on our much loved boat. First we head off to our favourite place - Säck…. again, sorry for that but new places up and coming don’t you worry. I have to fix the shower hose, figure out where all of the water ir going in the boat and have a good moan about it again :) Finally, we have some fun in the woods, happy days. Ficamos 10 dias no Suriname e seguimos para Trinidad and Tobago. Agradamos muito da Marina Breezer River. Pagamos 11 euros por dia na poita, com direito a usufruir a estrutura da marina. Vale muito a pena descansar no rio do Suriname. Sem contar que limpa todo o fundo do barco, pois a água é 100% doce. Morre todas as cracas e demais microrganismos da água salgada. Tem piscina, pizzaria e bar durante dia e noite. Lavanderia e posto de combustível na porta da marina. A capital não agradamos de conhecer. Pois tivemos bons momentos na capital da Guiana Francesa e ficamos decepcionados. Mas valeu a parada e pararia novamente se fosse fazer o mesmo trecho.

I recently met Eduardo who makes up the amazing whale research project in Mindelo, Cape Verde. Since then he's done a survey of locations at all the islands of Cape Verde where there is cetacean activity. We met again later in Mindelo and he showed me some amazing footage of his surveys. We decided to sail together each on our boats for a short journey to Santa Antao. When we returned I interviewed him to tell his story which I edited with some of his stunning images.
