I've always loved the idea of permanent Christmas lights! More accurately, I wanted a way to enjoy excellent, programmable Christmas lights that are also super versatile. My goal was to leave these lights on the house year-round. I want them to serve as fantastic accent lighting that enhances the architecture of my home. Plus, I'd love to show my team spirit by displaying my favorite team's colors during a thrilling game. And let's not forget about celebrating Independence Day with vibrant red, white, and blue stripes! Essentially, I'm looking for smart, year-round programmable lights that can adapt to multiple purposes and add a festive touch whenever I need it. I wanted my holiday lights to look fantastic and not like I forgot to take down the strings from last Christmas! This kit is made up of two pieces of protective tape which attach to the mast at the bottom of your lower mast, and slightly further up where your mast appears from the mast post to the deck. ⛵ Sailing Staniel Cay to Georgetown Regatta! | Iguana Beach, Rainy Days & A Beachfront Dentist!? 🦎🌧️🦷 Join us as we sail from Staniel Cay down to Georgetown for the annual Georgetown Sailing Regatta! 🇧🇸 ⛵ Quick stop at Leaf Cay to check out Iguana Beach 🦎 and spend the night before making the 32-mile passage south. It wasn’t all sunshine though—this leg of the journey brought cold, wet, and rainy sailing conditions 🌧️, and it took us about 5 hours to make it. But the very next day? Sunshine and regatta fun! ☀️⛵ The kids had a meet-up where we reconnected with old friends and made some new ones 💬👫. The bay was PACKED—more boats than we’ve ever seen! 🤯🚤. 🛠️ Brent 🖤 swapped out our windlass (flown in to Staniel Cay before we left), and we squeezed in some provisioning at the local Georgetown grocery store—convenient but pricey, like everything in the Bahamas 💵 😬 Meanwhile, I had to deal with a toothache from an old root canal, so I made an appointment with the local beachfront dentist 🦷🏖️. First time getting medical care outside the U.S.—and wow, that view from the dentist’s office… insane! Ana came along for emotional support 💕. Even in the middle of all the regatta festivities—talent shows, games, awards 🏆🎉—we’re keeping up with responsibilities. Weston is loving his online coding & circuits class 💻🔌. 🎭 We enjoy the last day of the regatta… and our last day in Georgetown before we set sail for Long Island. Par une belle journée ensoleillée, rien de tel qu'une escapade en catamaran pour découvrir autrement les trésors du littoral camarguais. Direction le Grau-du-Roi, petit port de pêche emblématique du sud de la France, niché entre mer Méditerranée et étangs sauvages. À bord d’un catamaran confortable, nous avons largué les amarres en fin de matinée. Le vent léger soufflait juste ce qu’il faut pour nous porter doucement vers le large. La sensation de glisse sur l’eau, typique du catamaran, offre un sentiment de liberté unique. Loin du bruit et de l’agitation, seul le clapotis des vagues accompagne notre avancée. Cap ensuite sur les environs du Grau-du-Roi, avec une vue imprenable sur le phare, le port et les longues plages de sable blond. L'annexe permet d’approcher des zones peu accessibles par la terre, notamment les petits chenaux bordés de roseaux, où l’on peut parfois apercevoir des flamants roses au loin. Après cette douce navigation, place à un moment convivial : une petite session de pêche. À l’arrière du bateau, chacun s’est prêté au jeu, canne à la main et yeux rivés sur la mer pour le plus grand plaisir des petits et des grands.

Hurricanes are an ever-present reality if you plan to sail offshore in the North Atlantic during the Summer and Fall seasons. In fact, hurricanes have occurred there every month of the year. Many hurricanes originate in the eastern Atlantic off the west coast of Africa and leave a historical record over a two week time frame to give advance warning of their character and the predictability of their probable track and intensity when they eventually reach near the US East Coast. But, many others originate in numerous other locations of the North Atlantic, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, open ocean, and wherever, and these can spring up with little or no advance warning to the mariner who has committed to a particular ocean route. So it is necessary good seamanship for Atlantic Ocean sailors to understand the nature, characteristics and forecast data sources available to safely deal with these destructive weather phenomena. This video discusses our past experience with some of the storms we encountered at sea and lesson learned from those experiences.
