Most stock SUV’s would be able to drive to Toquerville falls with a skilled driver. The drive takes about 35 minutes from the Chevron in Hurrican Utah. Driving up, or down the river is possible in a built jeep or Sid by side, keep in mind you will be dropping down on fairly large rocks, but it makes for a great trail.

Catran and Michelle go the Contest Boat Yard in Medemblik (The Netherlands), to do a final pre- purchase inspection of our (new to us) Contest 36 Sailboat . We hired an independent surveyor to check over the boat. Michelle gets a little history lesson and learns that the boat was great for the Mediterranean Sea. Esmeralda gets a quick Haul-out for a hull inspection. Do we have Ozmosis? We finish up with a quick engine check of the 39hp Yanmar Inboard engine, and the wind in our hair! Today we fitted the temporary companionway steps. Then started on the wardrobe and headlining in the forward head. Then in the evening a Social at the North West Venturers Yacht Club including watching a couple of Videos from "The Sailing Brothers" We are going to try producing short daily vlogs of our progress during this half term (although it might not be lots as another storm seems to be forecast for Sunday/Monday . Two years ago, when we bought Vida she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all electric (motor, cooking etc). All the rigging is being replaced with Dyneema and we are significantly re-working the cabins. We have to figure out what the floor level should be above the battery box that we are building in our bilge for 8 LiFePo4 batteries (4 x 120Ah and 4 x 300Ah) that will drive our electric motor as well as the inverter for cooking etc. Once we have the batteries installed and connected we can move onto the solar generation. We have unique plans for that as well :-) Also in here is our learning about ANL vs Mega fuses which caused another change of plan. This was a few days of faster progress as Jane has joined me for a week (half term), I wonder how far we will get this week! We are refitting a 1977 Rival 38 Centre Cockpit Ketch for zero fossil fuel world cruising. After leaving SXM (St Martin) we made our way back to St Barth, we just had to see the turtles again, plus Tyler wanted to grab a fridge magnet for our collection. After swimming with the turtles we set sail to Saba. Saba is a unique and beautiful island! This is our opportunity to be silly, enjoy some Kung Foo Fighting see the beautiful Durdevica Tara Bridge which was blown up during world war 2 and rebuilt. It required the largest wooden scaffold to be built in order to complete it. An impressive feat at any point of history. As we don’t have any sailing for the time we have the opportunity to fill up our time with beautiful drives across this beautiful earth! Hopefully you stuck around for some silly dancing and fun times as we explored the Black Lake in Durmitor National Park and walked the 3 mile perimeter trail which is spectacular. We also had a few side waterfall ventures which we have included as we have had a lot of rain over the past week. This brings a lot of water down the steep mountains of Montenegro and leaves us with EPIC waterfalls. The one at the beginning is in the Risan Bay and appears to come out of a mouth directly out the side of the mountain. Truly spectacular!!! We will post more videos of it on Facebook and Instagram. In this episode Catran leaves to go to Holland to catch up with Family and attend the METS Marine Equipment Trade Show in Amsterdam. Michelle, Fleur and Anouk stay in Lagos where they enjoy the weather and go exploring. They find a sailing school and more beaches.

In this episode of Empress Sailing, Anouk feels lonely in Lagos, Portugal, and struggles to find a social outlet. Once the girls are finished with school for the day Fleur enjoys time online with friends. Often playing Minecraft and using Discord to connect to even more friends. see what she gets up to as Anouk finds friends from the Marina at the beach Praia Maia here in Lagos. After our time in Australia the girls love the idea of surfing, so we are doing our best to encourage them to get out there on the water. In this episode we head to Praia Maia for the nearest surf for learners and beginners. Of course Mum is on hand as health and safety officer if anything should go wrong.
