This week was a thrill ride! Trail Hero season kicked in, uniting the off-road community in the breathtaking Utah terrain. Always amazing when everyone get together and share the passion to off-road! There were so many people doing all kinds of trails. We loved it! After a few hikes with a bunch of our friends, I headed out to the marina to check on LIA. We are gearing up for our next big adventure. After getting back home, we started working on more exciting things added to our property. Next stop - Monroe. We headed there to meet our friends and to experience a total solar eclipse! How cool is that. We wrapped up the week with a bunch of dirt biking and more off-roading. What a fantastic week! ‘Blacksmith’ is a 2013 X-Yachts Xp 50 listed exclusively with YOTI in Sydney. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/x-yachts-xp50-blacksmith This is a performance yacht designed to be sailed fast with confidence for both race and regatta sailing, and also speedy passage making. All new rod rigging was installed in July 2023. The sail wardrobe was largely updated new from 2022 – 2024 which included new in-boom furling main, #3, #4, and the A2. In addition, there is a #1, furling Code 0 and A3 with furler. All six winches are electric and these couple beautiful with the in-boom furler. This is a large, fast yacht which can be easily handled by a short-handed crew. There is a bow thruster for easy docking. Instrumentation is by Garmin and B&G. All Garmin 7 inch displays were installed new in 2022. There is auto-pilot, AIS and Iridium Go. Accommodation is beautifully finished and practical. The large owner’s cabin is forward with ensuite; the saloon is spacious and the nav station / control centre easily doubles for comfortable seating when it’s time to be below decks. The galley is impressive with front opening fridge and top opening fridge / freezer. There is a second large day head with shower plus two full size double aft cabins. There is a pipe bunk for additional storage or berth when needed. Importantly there is a Spectra water maker. ‘Blacksmith’ is an impressive performance sailing yacht with significant and recent updates. X-Yachts are simply one of the most highly respected manufacturers globally and the Xp 50 is a stunning model. ‘Blacksmith’ has been optimized for fast sailing while also covering those bases to be an extremely capable cruiser. Issa Vibe! 😁🎶🎭🎉🇬🇩 Hey guys, I wanted to share a bit about the ‘Spicemas’ Carnival in Grenada, one of the island’s most vibrant and culturally rich events. Unlike most carnivals that happen in February before Lent, Grenada’s carnival takes place in August. This timing helps it stand out and not compete with the big carnivals in Trinidad and Brazil. One of the most fascinating parts of Spicemas is J’Ouvert, which starts early on Carnival Monday (around dawn). Participants, known as Jab Jabs, cover themselves in black oil, grease, or paint and wear horned helmets and chains. This isn’t just for show – it’s rich in history and symbolism. The Jab Jab costumes represent resistance and liberation and symbolize the fight against French colonial masters. The chains they carry stand for the struggle and the victory over bondage, making the whole celebration even more meaningful. J’Ouvert is just the beginning! The festivities continue for a whole week (actually more like a whole month) and there’s different events, parades and parties everywhere. 🎭🎉🏝️ Spice Mas may be smaller than the carnivals in Trinidad (biggest Caribbean Carnival) and Brazil (biggest Carnival worldwide), but it’s filled with energy, creativity, and a strong sense of community. We packed up in Luperón and hit the road for the mountains of Jarabacoa— trading ocean breezes for cool air and jungle-covered peaks. After a scenic drive through the Dominican countryside, we rented a house in Las Guázaras, perfectly tucked into the hills. From there, the adventure really began. With our 2 and 3 year old in tow, we tackled the steep and strenuous hike up Montaña El Mogote. It wasn’t easy — sharp climbs, and lots of toddler encouragement — but the panoramic views made every step worth it. We cooled off at Balneario Salto El Baiguate, absolutely stunning. A powerful waterfall, fresh mountain water, and that feeling of having a place almost entirely to ourselves. We also explored the town of Jarabacoa, wandered through Parque La Confluencia, and crossed the suspended bridge over the mighty Río Yaque del Norte — the longest river in the Dominican Republic. Mountains, waterfalls, family adventures, and unforgettable views — this is why Jarabacoa is known as the adventure capital of the DR. Filmed August 2025.
