Having decided that the weather window for crossing the Bay of Biscay was too short, the crew chose to take the longer route closer to the coast. A pack of dolphins welcomed them to the bay, becoming the first of many encounters with the maritime cuties. It still has the peel ply on but the carbon/nomex panel and CT40 sail batten are now laminated in place. Looks mint! Some high end lamination work from Shayne gping on here. We explore which regions are considered relatively safe during hurricane season and where most sailors tend to stay during these months. We also take a look at whether there are certain years when particularly severe hurricanes are expected—and what role climate phenomena like El Niño and La Niña play in the Atlantic. We’ll also provide a concise overview of key considerations when choosing a safe mooring: What factors are crucial? Which seasons should you keep a close eye on?
