Located at The Boat Works, in the Marine Precinct of the Gold Coast, the Galeon 460 Fly, Galeon 510 Skydeck, and the Ocean Alexander 88 Sky were officially launched over a spectacular event that included a fake high jacking of Gold Coast City Mayor Tom Tate, a rescue by Russel Ingall, former Bathurst V8 Supercar champion aka James Bond, in an Aston Martin, after Showtime FMX motorbike riders jumped over the Galeon 460 Fly and finished with fireworks. A stellar line up of Aston Martin and McLaren vehicles, Calleija Jewellery, complimented by copious amounts of Moet Ice and tunes from Why Elle Duo - the night was a memorable one for our guests.

This adventure takes us from the Blueridge Parkway through Lynchburg where we hiked the Point of Honor Trail and the trail of Occoneechee State Park. From there we drove to the Outer Banks for some much needed beach and fishing time. The Red Drum and Pompano made a great dinner. After catching more than a dozen huge crabs from the Mattamuskeet Lake, we made a quick run to Deltaville, VA to share our bounty with old friends. Finally, on our way back to New Bern, NC we wanted to visit the small town that welcome boaters for visits.

I met Matt Harvey in June 2021 when he joined me onboard Silver Fern as Chief Mate on the 600nm passage from Southport to Hamilton Island, Queensland. With the various challenges that unfolded along the way, Matt proved himself as a capable and composed skipper, especially under pressure. Fast forward 4 months and Matt has just completed the purchase (sight unseen) of a 70-foot expedition yacht, that’s been parked up in Tahiti for 18 months (thanks to COVID-19) after it was halfway through its second circumnavigation. With a 200,000nm and 30-year history of ocean sailing and adventure, the yachts previous expeditions include one to Antarctica by the British Army, who retraced Ernest Shackleton’s famous voyage. Matt’s passion for sailing has him plunging headfirst into commercial yacht ownership and joining Ocean Sailing Expeditions, with his 70-foot expedition yacht to be renamed “Salt Lines”. This enables us to increase safety on remote expeditions with 2 yachts and expands the range of sailing adventures we can offer. This episode covers the journey so far for Matt, the sleepless nights and what lies ahead next for Matt and his delivery crew, including sailing 3,300nm across the Pacific to Australia for 2 months of upgrades and repairs, so she’s ready to go sailing from February 2022. In this episode we have arrived in the port of Palmeira on the island of Sal in the Cape Verde Islands. We check in to the country and grab a local SIM card, but after resting from our passage for 2 nights we decide to depart....it's far too dirty and dusty, and we did not find much of interest to us to see here. So we sailed west to the island of Sao Nicolao, where we found a nicer temporary anchorage for a night, then move to the west side, where we find some great snorkelling off a beach. It's starting to feel like tropical snorkelling, with coral reefs, reef fish, a ray swimming under the boat, puffer fish, and more! Thanks for following! Cette édition 23 a rassemblé 1 000 exposants et autant de bateaux (le plus grand d’entre eux mesure tout de même 377 pieds !).
