Cape Cod Canal, here we come, seasickness and fog won't stop us! Since running aground Jake has yet to go sailing; this week he starts the long process of learning to enjoy sailing again. Flashback to June for Pride month, and we sail to Provincetown Massachusetts to celebrate this joyous time of year, but not without struggles, Jake getting seasick. After a seemingly never-ending list of projects, we jump back to show you what was happening around the projects, and when we sailed to Provincetown with Captain Tom on his Moody 46. The short passage was off to a foggy and cold start, and to add insult to injury, Jake gets seasick for the second time in his life. But, it doesn't last long and everyone gets to enjoy a relaxing passage through the foggy Cape Cod Canal. It ends up being a relaxing, and typical, sail through New England, to Provincetown. Come back next week as we explore P-town in the hopes of finding venues for our wedding! *re uploaded due to a technical error we discovered* Don’t forget to subscribe!

So with sails measured up, I take the plunge and reef my jib all on my own!! I know I probably don't need to reef the jib, but it's all good fun and it will determine whether I reef the mainsail myself. My sewing and sewing machine isn't really up to the job if i'm being honest but I think I "just" got away with it!! We'll see how well it works when we next get some string winds! Needless to say, here's the whole reefing process I followed from start to finish so I hope it helps anyone trying to do the same. 00:00 Jib sheet clip 01:43 Dacron stick on sail tape design 02:58 the thread i'm using 03:46 Creating the reinforcing patches 06:47 Double checking the dimensions 07:30 Sticking the new patches down 10:19 Positioning the eyelet holes 12:47 Setting up the sewing machine 13:43 Sewing the patches 15:23 Hammering the eyelets in 16:54 Patching the reefing holes 18:58 Attaching the reef lines 23:01 The finished product!!

In this podcast episode, Bela Musits engages in a conversation with Simon and Sawyer Balint, delving into their adventure of returning their sailboat, a Passport 40, to the United States after their inaugural Atlantic crossing. Prior to their journey, this aspect had not been given much thought, as planning the crossing monopolized their attention. Various options were contemplated by this father and son team, including sailing the boat back themselves, employing a captain and crew for the return voyage, leaving the boat in the UK or Europe for a few years of continued sailing, selling the boat in the UK, or opting for the transportation of the boat via a freighter. Throughout the episode, a detailed exploration of the factors influencing their decision-making process unfolds. Be sure to tune in for this enlightening conversation.
